Tried searching - found nothing specifically targetting this question. Maybe I'm bad at searching.
Anyway:
Ethanol - safe to use on 94 GSi? Anyone given it a shot? Details please!

an extra 10-15 cents per litre , helps with your car running smoother last longer and just feels a whole lot better when driving

I always run my car on 98. it's cleaner, more mileage, better power than 91 (not heaps more), and my car demands premium anyway, I once put E10 in my DA9 and it ran like shit. no power. haha

probably becos the ethanol fuel was carrying water along with a whole lot of other gunk thats built up in a car as old as the DA9 :p

your car requires you to run 'premium' unleaded anyway and it even says on the inside of your tank lid and in your hand book..
well for a dc2r it did

NSPYRE is right, when you put an ethanol blend in your tank you can pick up some water if there is any in there.
Normally water just sits in the bottom of your tank and causes no problems unless there is too much. Ethanol is soluble in water however and this means that the water does not just sit in the bottom but can actually 'blend' in with the fuel causing problems.
It is not uncommon for water to be in a fuel tank, you know the 'hiss' when you open the fuel cap? that is air being sucked in, moisture in that air then condensates and as it is heavier than the fuel is goes to the bottom of the tank where it cannot evaporate again. Not usually anything to worry about though.

*Puts hand up* does anyone make a fuel additive to disperse/replace the water? maybe in a WD40 sorta way? (not that I'd ever spray WD40 in my fuel tank lol)

I really wouldnt worry about it but, no, the only way is to drain your tank

You sure a GSi needs premium? That seems kinda pointless considering it's not really a powerful machine...

i would reccommend against it

seriously, what more do you want? Honda themselves say that the effects are not proven. You want to trust someone else? go for it. Next time I'll just say use it and you will believe me?

Your car wasn't designed or tested to run on beer either and you wouldnt consider putting that in there...
I'd give you more but I think i would need a bigger spoon.

The GSi doesn't require premium, but I wouldn't be filling it with ethanol, either.

mooshie I wasn't having a go at you mate. Chill pill. This newbie was looking for definitive info - which you proved was completely lacking, therefore answering my question thoroughly. Thanks.
Next up: my local servo has 91, 95 and 98. It's my understanding 91 is regular stuff that's gonna be phased out, 98 is the good stuff - so wtf is 95? An in-between?

................. Duh???? The only thing is... It's only 3-4 cheaper than 98 so unless you're a cheap ass it's not really THHATTTT worth it...

Some Shell stations no longer have the regular 91 stuff. I know that my local shell has already converted and only offer the following:
- unleaded 91 (+10% ethanol)
- unleaded 95 ("regular" premium unleaded)
- unleaded 98 (aka v-power)

i would just stick with 95 for your gsi or 98 , and just cop the costs.
if you had a power fc, you can get it tuned for ethanol, run it all day long

I have put ethanol in my Gsi once, every other option was out of order :/. Only put $10 of it in, but it was pretty crap, wouldn't recommend. Stick to plain unleaded or I have found that Premium 98 feels better and lasts a lot longer than 95.. Could have just been the way I was driving though.

You have to watch out because ethanol can cause fuel lines to perish, I ran E85 in my VL Turbo, i could smell petrol leaking, cbf fixing it, eventually caught on fire, only a baby fire. Found the fuel line was very very brittle and cracked. Run ethanol, as long as ur car doesn't ping and you don't smell or see escaping fuel you will be fine... honda's were built better than '88 calais turbos.

Your GSi doesnt need premium.. but you get out of your car what you put in it..
I wouldnt go to ethanol just because thats my preference but at least be putting 91 unleaded into it..
Ive only used 91 once and that was because my GF accidently pumped the wrong fuel in lol.. but i did notice a drop in economy compared to using 'premium' fuel
at the end of the day the difference is less than $5 for a full tank?
Surely you car is worth that much lol
