We CU2 owners finally have the option of getting some 19" 98 load rating tyres so we can be legal in upgrading to 19"s. Dunlop Max Sport TT have a 245/40x19 which should be a perfect fitment. Sure the outside diameter is slightly larger, but that will make our speedo's more accurate.

With the standard 17" wheels an indicated 106kph is a true 100kph. With the above tyres fitted an indicated 102kph will be a true 100kph, so in reality they are the perfect size & there will be no clearance problems & we don't have to fit tyres that do not comply with the required load rating.

Now to find some decent 19" wheels.

That is some good news right there! Now if only the stupid councils would stop sending me rates bills!!!

I wonder how much they are? $300+ each? I might have to make a few phone calls or at least emails.....

Well over $300 each Matt, quality low profile sport tyres don't come cheap. Now for wheels. BBS or try to get some RonJon's in from the states.

tron....im using 245/40/19 as well at the moment and answer to your question is, NO~.. :) these tyres are magically comfy actually...so dont worry

Also, Michelins have this size at 98Y load rating as well. I'm running Michelin PS2 at the moment with the exact load rating of 98Y. Just some info for you guys.
Bridgestone Potenza RE050 and RE001 do make them in 98Y as well :)

Would they make any difference to the fuel consumption figures?

For a old fella like me, I think bigger then 17" would be bumpy already :D

I am guessing 245/40R19 should have a bigger contact patch, and perhaps slightly heavier weight for the rims, so FC would suffer slightly. Unless you go for ultra light weight rims....

Infact, i found the overall set up to be more fuel efficient. it might be because of my wheels being lighter than stock or it might be the thread pattern of the PS2. It might also be something to do with the slightly larger overall diameter and all of the previous mentioned combined together. Not sure but i AM getting better FC right now :D:D

same, I got Michelin Pilots with 245/40/19 as well with 98 loading. dear Bob Jane had them on special once and were exactly $300 each, check them out.
they felt the same as my Michelin 18's beforehand.

i remember it was hard to find 235/40/19's with 98 loading, unless you want to pay $500 for a Continental Tyre

I agree, i have the same set up on my cu2 (Michelin pilot + 19" forged wheels) and i'm really happy with the result. The ride is sweet and comfy, better handling, no guard rubbing and mostly better FC. Really is advisable to consider getting a forged wheels for the reason of being light in weight + stronger and durable than normal cast wheels.:):)

I think Dunlop sport also has this in 19" 245/40/R19 in 98Y load rating.

Hey guys,

I'm getting a set of forged wheels in 19x8.5+28 and 19x9.5+30 for my CU2.

What are some tyres you'd recommend for me to still maintain a good speedo reading?
I know I will get guards rolled for the rear and camber arms are on the way but in terms of actual tyres what are my options given our cars crappy load rating?
The previous owner has 235/35/19 front and 245/35/19 rear.

Also, is running a 91 or 95 load rating very bad on our cars, not including legal issues? The price of tyres are much cheaper with a lower rating! :/
