hi mates,

i normally wouldn't start a question thread without doing enuf researches before hand
but this time it's pretty urgent coz the potential of a faulty engine is good
when i drove home ytd, i found out when i accelerate in the range of 2000-3500rpm
there're some barely noticeable choking as if there's some rhythmic slipping in the clutch
anyway, feeling of power got dragged away like the AC is on...
but i m 100% sure that the whole clutch mechanic is fine
the feeling was like the engine was running at 3 cylinders
i got this feeling from the rhythmic choking...
i was so scared that did a quite nonsense test; floor throttled for a few times trying to "smooth out" the engine
well it worked and the problem is gone

wt're the symptoms showing?
a bad ignition system? leaking seals? or even worse?
any suggestions will be appreciated

cheers, derek

From the way you described it (a little vague) it could be a range of things... I had a similar problem and then I lost compression in cylinder 2... not saying that's whats wrong but just check over your car to save you headaches in the future. If you haven't serviced your car, do so. Give it a comp test, check the ignition system and fuel supply, check ecu for codes, it could even be bad fuel or low fuel... If IEVAQ8 if offering help I would take it, he knows his stuff judging from what I've seen on the forums. Otherwise there are plenty of articles in the DIY section that you could follow to determine what the issue is.

im speechless ...^^^^thanks REP point for u

i met up with derek last night and said to him, i believe it is sparkplugs.....
he came ova today and i changed them for him and its brand new again,
looks like he washed his engine bay, and water went down the spark plug tube, and was arching out, plus the plugs look like they havnt been changed in a while....

the oil getting to the spark plugs can be one reason the misfire happens, in dereks case, the spark plugs looked as though they hadnt been changed in a long time ( and i mean a LONG time) so eventually they wore out and the gap widened, hence there wasnt enuf connection to keep the spark alive under load.....

thought b16a's were supposed to use bkr6e-11?you are correct.

bkr7E-11stock b16a is BKR6E-11

dc2r uses BKR7E-11 or the equivalent titanium/iridium long life version plug. (not sure on product code)
