Safe stretch?

I'm currently running 265/35/18 tyres on 18X9 +38 wheels, and thinking to change to 215/40/18 tyres. Will it be safe to drive with the 215's? Or would 225 be a better option?

215/40/18 would be fine..
just depends on what look you want also..
215 would be good, just can drive as hard as you used to
