I also a white pasty liquid coming from the top of the engine through the hose that connects to the cold air intake pipe. what could it be??

Cheers

if u cant fand any leaks and its not under the oil cap, maybe ur heater core is fuked and leaking into the car...
check the carpet under ur dash and see if its wet...

Have a friend follow you, then you hit vtec - ask them if they see tremendous amounts (or any) white smoke shooting out of your exhaust.

Water has got to go somewhere. How does she start first thing in the morning? First kick? Hesitation?

Yeh it starts first thing. No Problem.
I checked the cap, and ran my finger on the inside and no white stuff. .
I checked the pipe again and there was clumps of white paste in the pipe. Pipe runs from rocket cover to cold air intake.
What could it be.............. please no head gasket i want new rims!!!

Cheers

If head gasket is blown do you have to machine the head?

dude thats so weird... taken off the rocker cover to have a look inside? if you haven't it's really easy and you should definitely take a look. just make sure when you're putting it all back on, don't over tighten those dome nuts, they have a terrible tendency to strip badly. just do them up slowly until you feel it stop turning.

hope this helps! and good luck bro

now the clumps sound like condensation.....does ur car live outside over night????
but the water is a mistery

I pray to god it's not a head gasket.
I called shift and said it's just condensation.
I am taking it to top one next week.

Fingers crossed

Get a pressure test done

BUMP. HELP! sorry to hijack thread but the same things is happening to my dc2 at the moment.
-pressure tested done. normal pressure. no leaks?
-flush coolant system/ new coolant in. next day all coolant has gone in coolant reservoir?
-checked oil. no white pastey stuff which would indicate head gasket according to mechanic?
besides this the car is running smooth and generally fine - temp gauge shows normal temp on dash?

Only thing different is i dont have the white liquidy stuff coming from the pipe leading to the CAI.

xxx26e - any solution? anybody?

have you checked all the hoses that run coolant?

there are a lot. 10ish? more or less....

check to see if there is white residue in the engine bay. most coolants will leave a residue somewhere if it's leaking.

Like Dean said, it has to go somewhere.

just an update. checked all coolant lines, couldn't detect any leaks, no white residue anywhere.
i topped up the coolant reservoir and 5 days later, the coolant level hasn't changed.
rechecked oil dipstick and cap and there is no milky residue on either?
noticed some white smoke coming from exhaust, however could be due to cold weather all of a sudden in perth, didn't really see if it was only at start up, or heavy acceleration etc. just thought i would look at the exhaust after reading so many articles saying to see if there is any white smoke.
so..inconclusive whether or not it is the headgasket leaking. gawd this is annoying.

I would suggest getting the cooling system pressure tested, my guess would be you have a small, pressure related leak, which isn't obvious. Good Luck.

You sure you got all the air out of the system when you did the initial flush/re-fill?

thanks for the reply guys.
the coolant system has been pressure tested twice and its as normal.
secondly my mechanic made sure that all the air was out of the system twice as well.
?
ergh.

is there presence of oil or tranny fluid in the coolant? any external leaks?

ceeazian

nothing in coolant. clean and as clear as the green of the antifreeze.

absolutely no external leakage. parked under cardboard for the night, not one drip?
