hey guys

I removed this drive shaft from my EG5 Si today (completely standard car). From what I've read D16A8 EG's have a midshaft but mine doesn't. Does this look like a standard SOHC drive shaft?

If so, would this mean I don't have a standard D16A8 gearbox on my car, possibly been swapped to a SOHC gearbox?

I'm talking about the passenger side drive shaft. The one above looks like one from a SOHC VTi or GLi D-series, but I need someone to confirm because I'm no expert with Honda drive shafts.

I also need to figure out what gearbox is mated up to my D16A8...

Can anyone tell me how to identify the visual differences between a D16Y gearbox and D16A8 gearbox?

The serial number on my gearbox is S20-1355873 if someone knows how to decipher it?

Ok

D16a8 comes standard with a gearbox.... Midshaft and two side shafts. Believe it or not these are almost exactly the same as b series driveshafts.
All other d series setups have drivers side shaft and single passenger side driveshaft. These are not compatible with the d16a8 and vice versa. This means

You have a different d series gearbox - off a vti , gli , breeze etc

THANK YOU!

Those were my suspicions, but being new to Hondas I just needed someone whose been around these woods to confirm it.

This would also mean I have some other clutch and flywheel from a VTi, GLi, GL, or Breeze... some history with this car....
