how expensive is it to make just to make a rather mild B20 VTEC block?

tinkerbell
14-01-2005, 03:12 PM
cost about $8000 to make 120kW,

that is on stock internals and all DIY...

the upgrading of the suspension and brakes to integra spec, a. why? b. how much and how difficult was it?

the upgrading of the suspension and brakes to integra spec, a. why? b. how much and how difficult was it?

a) to upgrade to larger everything, 242mm vs 262mm discs, 19mm to 22mm sway bar... (larger everything = better)

b) the AB prelude shares virtually identical suspension proportions and design as the DA9 Integra.

i was able to bolt up the DA9 front crossmember to the Prelude, bolt holes in EXACT same locations, and work backwards from there...

the suspension and brakes was simply a matter of swaping the lower control arms, steering knuckles (including discs and calipers), radius rods, and swaybar mounts... all a bolt on proceedure, and all parts obtained from a DA6 JDM front cut.

then swapping overthe master cylinder and booster to the DA6 spec and swapping in a DA6 proportioning valve (oh yeah, and removing the massive ALB system)

Oh and spiller what colour u changing to and whats the go with the suspesnion?

Decided to leave it the same colour but it will be shinier becuase its being done in 2pac. I didnt want to bother with engine bay and door jam paint and all of that. My wheels are getting done the same as the gunmetal Type R colour. As for suspension all i have done are some King Low Springs. That has resulted in a 35mm drop. The shocks are a bit on the wayout so im looking out for some stiffer and lower suspension.

I will have to scan in some pics of my first car....a 1st gen!

Don't see too many of those around. This is back in 96, 97 and 98 that I had this car. The body was fully restored (no rust, dead straight panels) and repainted white (by the previous owner). I then lowered it about 2.5 inches, added an exhaust, 15 inch 5 spokes (back in the day when 15" was pretty big), tinted windows, custom mesh grill and a decent stereo. Ahhh, those were the days!

I better go find some pics....

These pics are after I made the clear corners and put on the clear sidemarkers, don't think you can see the sidemarkers in these shots though but there's a close up of them on my site.

Nice lude mate. I think that zepters are the only chrome rims worth considering these days. Go the P1's though, they will improve the look even more.

I love clear indicators on gunmetal series 1 preludes!

Do they look as good in real life? Dylan was telling me his looked great in photo's but really dodgey in real life.

I have pedders lowering springs, Whiteline rear sway bar, whiteline strut brace and Superpro bushes.

But yeah it is fairly low its about 9.5cm off the ground, the mud gards are 5cm off the ground. I don’t have that much trouble driving over things the back of the car dose not scrape at all. Mostly the front lip and the mud guards when I go over the little speed bumps in drive thoughts. But it’s all about driving style.
