hey guys,,

currently going through the process of building a b20 vtec with a b16 head,
i've come to a conclusion that i'm going to leave the bottom end stock, and going to do some work on the valve train to make it breathe easier.

head will get serviced guides will be out and checked, and port and polish will be done

budget is around 1500 for valve train

i'm after cams, valves, valve springs, etc, i'm after something mild, nothing to crazy in noise wise

what do you guys recommend on valve train brand?
should i mix and match or stick to one brand?

camtech cams at chipping norton doesnt really have much info on their website

if you guys can help me out that will be appreciated thanks

hmmm 1.5 aye....

1.5 isnt that much for what you want BUT what you can get and will make decent power is dc2r internals

which is obv the cam shaft, cam gears, dual valves and springs

u will have money left over you may want to buy a different cam gear to dial it in more

If your upgrading camshafts you might wanna either swap your pistons or notch the stock ones as you will get piston to valve contact,
the biggest camshaft you can use is the ITR ones but even that is pushing it. Swap your piston to atleast cheap ITR copies RS machines,
bang for buck piston

thanks for your advice sam,

i'm currently looking at some parts at rocket industries,,
i'm currently focusing on the head at the moment

but will keep that in mind for the block

i'm in no rush at the moment just doing it one step at a time,,

if i went for :
http://shop.rocketindustries.com.au/products/BC0012

with Valve Spring & Retainer Kit from rocket along with adjustable cam gears

what type of pistons and rods do you recommend if u se the above parts for the head

mikey g :

so a complete dc2r valve train will bolt onto the b16 head?

i also seen b16b valve train selling on parts for sale section,

will there be noticible gains from standard b16 valve train and dc2r?

ofcourse there will be gains...

infact i think u can get rs pistons, complete type r internals and buddyclub/skunk2 cam gear for 1.5k BUT you need to tune though.... u cant just spend the money on internals and not tune it will be pointless....

you must get it pointed to get the most power from it

yeah the tune will be last, but that won't be left out that's for sure.

currently focusing on the motor internals, not looking at something crazy , just a mild street track motor,

if anyone here has put itr internals into b16 head with b20 block please tell me what you think please.
