I noticed yestorday that my new Euro has its first scratch,as someone must have touched my car whilst parking on Friday night.
I have a few small, but deep scratched on the front right frnder, lower section, which must be repaired ASAP,or else it will aggrovate me forever.

My selling dealer,Astoria Honda in the SE suburbs of Melbourne has a body shop, but I was wondering if anyine has had any experiences with those mobile bumper repair people who advertise good, cheap paint repairs ?

It need to be properely done,as its a metallic...Buran Silver.

If anyone has any contacts, please let me know,as I will start looking for repairs tomorrow,

Thank you in advance.

that's why I'm looking into a video camera to record any motherf#er who scratches my car and doesn't have the decency to leave their details. why is there so much scum out there? I feel for you man - happened to me a few times before, so I know exactly how you feel. If it happened in a shopping center you might be able to ask their security staff to check security cameras.

I know there are some low level people can't afford these type of cars just key in or scratch....I know what you mean. I seen a nice new Euro yesterday, that had been keyed from front to back, across all the panels. I cried just looking at it. I'd hate to think what i'd do if I ever caught someone doing that to my car.

I usually find it's some fat bitch with kids that just don't care about bumping into and opening doors into someone elses car. I always say my piece when ever I see it happen, but they just couldn't care less.

If it's just a scratched panel, probably not worth claiming on insurance, as the excess cost will probably be more than the repair.

How deep are the scratches? Are they deep enough for your fingernail to catch in? If your fingernail does not catch, it should be easy for a detailer who is good with heavy polish and a machine buffer to buff them out.

If your fingernail catches, it's not a good sign, but not necessarily the end of the world - Depending on the scratches, it might be possible to wetsand them out and polish it, while still a pro job, will be a lot cheaper than a respray. Is the damage on the actual guard panel, or the plastic bumper? Are you able to see metal/plastic or primer underneath? Do any of the scratches go across a panel join, or raised fold/edge on the panel? Bear in mind that the Euro is clear coated, and when the clear coat is scratched/damaged, the clearcoat will turn white where it has been stressed, so might look worse than it is.

You're lucky being in Melbourne, you have one of the best car detailers in the country nearby, and I know he has contacts to body shops. Look up Damian at Final Inspection.

He quoted $250 to ONLY respray the scratched area,it was the cheapest quote, and he is used to working on nice cars,as when I origionally went in,he was working on a new C class Merc, and today was working on a new Volve C30.

He did NOT however do the job today,as when I went in,said he did not have the paint,as the code from my car was incorrect, and he would only have it by late today,so it will now go in next Monday, which really IS disapointing.

Astoria Hondas quote was $600,to respray the whole bumper, which was really NOT neccissary,as it is perfect.

Hope it turns out well for you... Interested in the result.

Normally, for metallic/pearl paint cars with clear coat, they have to respray the entire panel even to repair a small damaged area, for two reasons: One, so the colour is consistent across the whole panel/bar (if it is spot-repaired, they still have to blend the repair into the surrouding paint, and spot repairing a small area gives them not a lot of room for error on colour match), and two, so there is no discernable evidence of respray in the clear coat. It takes quite a bit more skill to spot-repair in this way.

I will let you know how it goes...I just dont want to respray the whole bumper for a tiny scratch, but I am not prepared to have a 6 month old Euro with a scratch,so I think this will be the best way for me to go.

I usually find it's some fat bitch with kids that just don't care about bumping into and opening doors into someone elses car.

Happened to my friends toyota yaris. Some African mum (newly Australian i presume) parks and her kids slam the door open leaving a massive dint on her car. She was like wtf! don't you fkn look after your kids n shit? The lady just replies you tried to run them over and walks away without a care in the world. Footscray is such a fuked up place... Some dickhead finds a parked truck on his lane, doesn't indicate and swerves right next to me, had to slam my ****ing breaks and grind a gear so i didn't touch him. The dickhead prolly doesn't even have a licence, and yes his African to...

I know how you feel, but it's easier to do a perfect job and get the best possible result if they respray the whole bumper.

I have to say though, modern paint tech and matching is pretty impressive, despite being hampered by having to comply with a raft of environmental rules.
