If you’ve been following our Facebook (http://en-gb.facebook.com/people/Advan-Australia/100000853453958) or Twitter (http://twitter.com/#!/ADVANAustralia) feeds, you’d by now know we’re currently in Japan for the Tsukuba Circuit Superlap Battle. It also marks the start of the World Time Attack 2011 campaign.

As most of the Pro-Class teams did not come out for practice, it gave us an opportunity to take a look at what Japans tuning scene had to offer. Naturally the first thing we noticed were the tyres. We were amazed at how many competitors were using the ADVAN Neova as their choice. There were no official lap times that were counted toward tomorrow’s competition; however there were murmurings that a time was recorded in the 56 second mark – that’s incredibly impressive.

Additionally we noticed a huge influx of street legal cars in tomorrow’s battle. We have posted some more shots in our gallery (http://advanwheels.com.au/gallery/), but this was probably one of our favourites. We certainly hope some incredible machines like this make it over to Australia.

Practice day of the RevSpeed Tsukuba Circuit Super Battle showed significant promise for Friday’s competition day. However it did not prepare us for the calibre of Pro class competitors and what they were bringing to the table. Let’s cut to the chase shall we?
Revolution RX-7; 53.6 seconds with a top speed of 225.8 kph (video soon to be posted at worldtimeattack.com (http://www.worldtimeattack.com/)). This is a blisteringly fast time around such a tight circuit. When asked about the specs, they stated a surprisingly modest 540hp from a 13b Mazda Rotary.
Of the top 5 placing cars, 4 were Mazda FD3S RX-7’s, those of which include long time rivals PanSpeed (http://advanwheels.com.au/racing/car.aspx?id=6&eid=1) & R-Magic (http://advanwheels.com.au/racing/car.aspx?id=6&eid=1). However, one of the more exciting cars to watch was Tarzan Yamada, piloting the Street Special Garage Yahata R32 GT-R, which managed to hit the fastest speed of 226.7 kph. For a car that is significantly simpler and particularly ‘old-school’ in comparison to the Revolution RX-7, this is incredible. The car was also running NOS, and the radiator in the passenger seat to make room for the enormous intercooler in the engine bay. See below to watch Tarzan taking it around the track:

this isnt a Advan car but needs a mentioning . when you think time attack its normally a Evo, or a 4wd monster of something... not anymore , check out the vid to see what i'm talking about... it give us loyal rwd follower some hope.

want to also mention that Advan has done a awesome job covering this years time attack and i personally look forward to see more from Advan and time attack.

i'll leave you with some words from Australia Advan's Marketing manager , This is not a Yokohama ADVAN car. We were pleased to get the in-car footage to promote time attack / super lap racing. This is the new benchmark time attack car. Well done Garage Revolution for building and tuning it.
