Need help here. Went to a "self serve" wreckers yard on the weekend to get a starter motor (ours is playing up of late) for our Civic as there was a wreck the same model as ours recently delivered there. I pulled out the starter and also the dizzy and all 4 door trims as they were all in very good condition. It's an auto and had done only 170,000 ks which is not bad for a 20 yo car as ours has now done 330,000 ks and though stiill good for its age the tranny is getting tired i.e. flaring between 2nd and 3rd. What I'd like to do is to take out the auto in this yard, but how the hell do you do it with no hoist etc????. Any tips would be appreciated

How much do they want for the whole wreck?

wreckers generally have forklifts around to assist you with this.

auto trannies are heavy! damn. better watch your back if you try to lift it up.
as dorikin said, they should have at least trolleys.

Don't know, but its already in it early stages of being gutted ie someones taken the rocker cover, suspension bits and pieces (sits on old rimes now) etc etc. I'll go back next weekend and see whats left, maybe some door inards like the electric window winders and central locking bits.
