hey i signed up as ive convinced my sister in buying a 2002+ integra luxury (automatic)
before we start looking for second hand cars. im after some advice on experiences with your integras.
questions id like to ask:
1. the 2002 was first of the new shape.. is there any problems/issues from factory?
2. how is fuel economy. she wants something with decent km, i told her in vtec it will drink but she drives always under 3000rpm
3. obviously lower the km the better but if there around the 100k + mark are they asking for rebuilds or theyre generally ok?
4. as there a sports car is there ways of seeing if theyve lived majority of their lives in vtec (might sound noob) but my attempt is to find one that hasnt had a hard life
advice would be much appreciated
cheers

1. maintain and look after the engine and it will look after you
2. its decent. but if shes driving under 3000 like u said, should be good.
3. i dont know if it just me, but i tend to buy cars either under 50,000kms or above 110,000kms, but never over 160,000kms. just cause i dont wanna pay for major service and over 100k but under 160k, the major service would have had to be done, if not, then not touching the car. a lot of japanese make engines are built for reliabilty and to go on strong. it all depends on how the engine was kept, but with that, the k20 should make it past 200,000kms easy. but hard to say, as they are a relatively new engine and not many are up to that mark yet.
4. i dont think so. but it would apply to all cars, just check how the motor starts up, and how it runs. runs smoothly, strong steady idle, and no funny sounds.

1 dont think theres any major problem, maybe boot leak in rainy dasys
2 ull prob get over 450 at least easy with daily driving with vtec sometimes
3 yea theyre okay as long as they service the car every10000, think k20 engine will last for more than 250ks even the old d series last 300ks
4 dont think ppl will trash a auto base model dc5, and u cant really trash a base model with auto tranny, also look at the privious owners diving style

u can thrash any car if u wanted to darling. how are u supposed 2 look at the previous owners driving style? yeah they are going to drive like an idiot whilst trying to sell their car.
and if they drove like a **** wit, there cars probably macked, which is probably why they want to sell it... so i think they want to drive normally and pretend they drive smart so you will buy it.
there are other factors that affect fuel economy rather than just driving style. i can't see how u can throw figures around

dude coz i hv driven a base model dc5 auto so thats why i can throw figures around alright lol, i run at least 450 a tank and im saying that to integragirl, if u dont agree then too bad. i think he would want to know how many ks i get per tank, and u cant really trash an auto tranny car compare to a manuel, can u go from fifth gear to second gear in an auto?? and some owner may also take u out for test drive with nomal driving, whereas some ppl will full rev the engine and show u vtec is still stronge car is very fast and sht like that

im just asking why u getting angry for
and just because you've driven one, doesn't mean you know what the fuel economy is. ive driven my uncles one, wow now i can throw around figures :S

u can still over heat the gear box in the auto and make if fail
i dont know any idiot that would show u how strong their vtec is when trying to sell a car, unless i asked them too.

tiah313, people would be less likely to question you if you put more effort into typing properly. Your posts are difficult to decipher, and don't exactly inspire confidence.
