Hi guys, when I first start up my car in the mornings (or after its been sitting for more than a few hours), it takes a long to to start, have to crank for 1-2s before it starts. I'm guessing this isn't normal, going to take it into the dealer early next year.

Also when backing out of my driveway going from reverse to drive, it will make an odd clunk/click. There is no jerk in the driveline, just that noise. I do let the car come to a complete stop before changing gears.

Any ideas/comments on the cause?

Crank for 1 or 2 seconds doesn't sound abnormal to me? If you're cranking for >5 seconds I would be curious but 1-2 seconds sounds okay to me.

Also, we have the transmission clunk randomly when changing from "R" to "D", usually first use for the day. Not overly concerned about it:)

My wife's Jazz '10 VTi-S does the same thing in relation to the clunk/click sound when cold starting then reversing and changing to Drive. Its quite audible especially from outside of the vehicle. Doesn't do it when its warmed up though. Was going to bring it to the attention of the dealer at the next service due next month. I would also like to know if anyone else has had this checked out as it does not quite sound right and may lead to a future driveline/transmission problem.
