It depends on the business. If you're looking for the average retail customer then yes. why would every shopping centre in Australia stay open if that wasn't the case? If you're a smaller place, or a more specialised place, then no, you can afford to take the time off.

I would think that anywhere that does audio work is half way between the two. They'd want to have the sales guys there to keep the doors open for potential customers that dirve past, or havetime off themselves to come in, but they won't be doing much install work so the full-timers that do the behind-the-scenes work can have a break. At this time of year everyone understands if you are told "I'll have to book it in for later, the installers are on holidays".
