Is it slow everyday at 5.30ish?

Backups etc run early in the morning so that's why thugs get slow after say 1or 2am. I'll be looking into the latter when I get back from holidays (early January).

Thanks for the headsup. I've made a few changes so we'll see how it goes. Won't be able to monitor till I return from holidays but please post back here if there are still issues.

Ok so the backups start sometime after 1.30 - 2.00am

How long does a backup take?

I'm sure many users like myself don't sleep and would like to have the privileged of browsing ozhonda 24 hours a day.

some pages are taking 3 minutes to load.

so virtually its a downtime from 1.30 - 2.00am to 4.00 - 5.00am????

I am not getting much luck between these times.

any other explanations or it really does take 2 - 3 hours to backup, every single day.

Bludger
23-03-2011, 03:25 AM
still 20 second pause before it starts to load.

so that's between 1.40 ish am to now that its slow to react.

Will have a look at it. But yes, agreed it is a bit too resource intensive and time consuming. Give me a week or two to look into it. In the meantime try and get some rest :)

i dont have a problem with it really
it could also be that the ram of the users computer is not fast enough to keep up their opperating system and with the quick loading too...
im running vista with 2.4 ghz duo processor with 4 gb of ram.

I'm sure my computer's RAM loves taking a sleep between the hours if 1.30 & 4.30am.

LAZY ram, anyone know where to buy RAM that keep going 24 hours like me?

When a problem is ignored, it doesn't go away, it just gets worse.
I think the users, especially the supporters deserve an answer.
We have been more than patient.

I've been a supporter twice. On both occasions, they were 3 year subscriptions. The second subscription ran without a glitch, the first got cut short after roughly 1.5 years when an ex moderator became bonkers in the head and ****ed everything. I never complained, I still want to subscribe again.

Please encourage me.

i'm going to stay up late to see if this happens to me.

if this is due to backups running, there is nothing much else to it. you just have to wait it out. if you work nightshift in an office environment, you expect backups to slow down your network. i would not expect anything lessfrom a normal website.
however, if a full backup runs each night and cripples the site speeds, the site admin or webhost should run partial backups instead.

joyride

update: it's taking me a few seconds to load pages on the site, nothing drastic

joyride
18-06-2011, 12:20 AM
pages are loading a bit quicker.. definitely not going to stay up any longer, gotta get up early in the morning.
i'll test out the site again in the week.

members, please continue to post the problems you have with the website with a date and time when it happened.

It is majorly slow from 1:30am - 5:30am

you have not experienced the slow yet.

Click on whatever link on OzHonda, the browser will say something like waiting for ozhonda to respond........
It doesn't time out like another site would if the site was down, it just makes you wait for 5 minutes before giving a response and then load the page.

Every single night.

If it's just 1 or 2 nights I really wouldn't care. but it's every night and I use the forums at all hours.

Bludger
18-06-2011, 03:09 AM

As I said above it is noted. I've just been flat out with work and haven't had any time to look into it. Backups are what are causing the problem and I'll look at fixing it ASAP.

Yeah Clint, they're just leaving it.

I mean nearly a year of complaining from members (10 month thread, 22/12/10)

They have supposedly identified the problem but no explanation as to why its taking sooooo long to fix.

Yeah, been busy for 4 months jerking off.

he must be busy with more important things in his life.
should make ozhonda public. i.e. delegate more staff to manage stuff like coding.

no pay of course, more for people with no experience and use ozhonda as work experience.
