I have a 94' Vti-R and was just wondering if someone could tell me when the engage point is on their clutch.
For me it engages about 1/3 to 1/4 of the way down, i have only started noticing this lately otherwise i didnt pay too much attention to this.
Is my clutch on the way out? If so is all i have to do is get a new clutch plate installed. If this is the case should i just get OEM, or do i go the TODA one?

Try to lift up your handbrake, then put on 3rd gear, slowly release the clutch, if it don't die, replace the whole clutch system
But 1/3 - 1/4 sounds fine i think? If you really wanna replace it, try exedy, and you may also grap some lighten flywheel as well, or even put on gear set or lsd to save labour

i think the engage point in a hydraulic system can vary slightly from time to time

As your clutch wears out, the friction point moves higher & higher up the pedal (travel)
Though it can be adjusted, & aught to be checked from time to time & 500km after installing a new clutch.
Honestly, once the pick-up point moves near the top of the pedal travel, the death of your clutch is iminent.

In my old car, the engagement point started moving closer to the floor, turned out that i was low on clutch fluid...

Ok, well the travel point of the clutch has moved towards the top. What i am wondering is, should i replace it straight away otherwise how much damage would it cause if it went whilst driving around.
TODA thanks for the price list. My next question to you is do i go for a standard one being the Sports clutch kit - full face organic - $366, or will i only need to purchase the plate?
Or is this something that can only be found out by looking at the car?

Well the same goes here, thats why im asking about the clutch.
I was not aware that the clutch engaging point is high, but if this is the case maybe i need to get someone to look at it.

How/where do you adjust a hydraulic clutch?
WHen your clutch disk is worn, you'll find you can't drive the car anymore and your engine rpm will just rise as the clutch slips. It won't do any harm, but if it starts slipping while you are driving, don't expect to be able to move :)
Apart from that, you have to take the clutch out to inspect in and tell if it is really worn.

The free play & master cylinder push-rod are both adjustable at the pedal inside the car.
When your clutch is work out, it is best to replace the whole thing, bearings included.
Though not always 100% nessesary, it saves premature removal due to bearing or cover problem / failure.
That is, All of the components are wear items and should be considered replacable.
You can simply replace the friction disc if you're on a tight budget. But it's not ideal.
