hey,

im looking into buying myself a CRX im looking to get a recent model one like 94 +
I want a car that looks good and goes fast. I understand that a CRX is 115kw standard is it hard to increase this. Like dramaticly increase it. I want to look good and still have street cred too.
How much would i be looking to pay for a CRX with electric targa top? as low k's as possible and as standard body as possible. as i want to make my own look

Thanks for any help

AVOID the electric roof. Most of them are stuffed by now and cost big bucks to replace. Plus it just adds weight to an already heavy car. Make sure you check the Targa seals these are also big bucks to replace.

From memory only the imports have the electric roof and not all of them have the B16a some have the SOHC engine in them.

Theres a million parts and mods for the B16a engine that comes standard in all Australian delivered Gen3 crx's. It depends on how much power you want to make and what your budget is. BLKCRX has over 400kws at wheels with this engine still running the 1600cc displacement (with a very crazy turbo setup ;)).

Hey Man, there are currently 2 or 3 Gen 3 crx's forsale on www.crxaustralia.com they are still working on the site so I can get the chaps Ph Nos. if you like? One has an electric targa top low kms. You can dramatically increase performance NA or FI, you just need dollars.

is it a common problem for the targa tops to leak? as i have heard with the aerotop supras they leak whenever you use a high pressure hose.
How can i cheak to make sure the electric roof's are in good condition? is it easy to do it manualy?
Is there any common problem with the CRX's that i should look out for?
my budget is about $20 grand but am willing to go a little over if i like the car enough

Anyone know the weight of the CRX with electric roof as i have someone looking to sell one at the momentFuel consumption is 9L or 10L per 100km's (B16A) and weight is 1114kg. Not sure how much the electric roof would weigh, but that is on top of the figure quoted. :D

v3rdino: For a little car the del sol is heavy.

EZZY: As quoted from honda the rubbers sealing the targa roof (front, rear, left side, right side) from memory was just over $1000.

BLKCRX is a 1.6L

What kind of drag times do these CRX's make. Like what other car is simalur. What league are they in?Its hard to say when I have not seen it in person. If it has done those sort of low km's and cond is good then the price would be ok. Just negotiate, get the best price you can. Problem is that I was chatting to him when he was trying to settle on a price.
As for 1/4 mile times. I did 16.050 when mine was NA, but I have read documentation of 15.7 on the 1/4 mile. Thats for a stock delsol B16A2.

That price seems pretty fair assuming its in good condition.

few years ago i had a 94' Model CRX and traded it in for my VTiR (got $26k for it too!)

in terms of performance, same as that of a Civic, afterall it does use a Civic platform, to my recollection its slightly lighter than a Civic too, and thats assuming you own the Aussie model. The US and Jap spec with the Transtop will set you back a further 75kg. There was a sight on the net i came across a few years back that showed you how to remove this. (I wanted to put one on!)

Its a great car, not many nice bodykits for it tho. and youll need to get a serious Sub if you want to hear the bass as the boot is almost airtight!

I was thinking of putting the sub behind the seats ... seen it done in a couple of hot 4's mags.
I want the Transtop. I know it makes it heavyier but it would be damn cool ... he he.
I thought the Veilside kit looked pretty kool.
I have been asking around importing place as i hear its hard to find one in australia that is for sale ... they all say i am unable to import them. I know about the 15 year importing rule but i dont understand how these other people who already have them did it.
Hopefully i can organise a price we both agree on over this CRX and then i wont need to worry but im keeping my options open.

because of the Targa roof. The chassis needs allot more support since there is no roof on it.

they are either private imports or rebuilds.

youll need to get a serious Sub if you want to hear the bass as the boot is almost airtight!not really. when i use to have 2 10" subs in the boot, it gave massive headaches/backaches. then i cut down to 1 10" and it still gave me headaches. now i've got no sub which makes the mOosik really dull.

Yes I agree the del sol is a quick car in standard trim, but I just compare it to a Mr2 where they are like 800 some kg's for a 2 seater like the del sol. :D

Thats the story I've been told too,.. do you always believe everything you read and/or are told.

Seems like a waste to re-sleeve a B16 block back to 81mm if you ask me.

any reason why delslo's shouldn't be up to scratch with any other B16?
