I am looking to buy an eg with 328000 on the odo as a work hack. Is there anything I should look for or be aware of. How reliable are the motors and so forth

D series engines when kept in stock form and taken care of can last and last and last. And they use hardly any fuel, so good for daily. They where built for economic and reliable transportation so don't expect alot of performance. Which civic you buying in particular?

i have a 93 gli EG sedan - D15b7

the car has almost 320 000 kms on it and still runs the same as when i bought it at around 100 000 kms

just make sure its been looked after and runs well - if so they will go forever
juss give it a good service with all OEM fluids etc

you may need to look at the clutch and make sure the gearbox is ok

mine still handles track days fine

check the build thread in my sig

main problems with all high km cars is how well has it been treated... any car can last last that amount of kms, but its all about how good its been treated.... My old mans camry has around 350000kms... still goes good, than iev seen some really shocking cars, that require extensive repairs

One main problem iev found is the drive shafts making sounds, so likely u needa replace em... a car that old an that kms is bound to have all its bushes, rubber boots all worn down

It's not just the engine that you'd have to worry about..if the engine has travelled 328,000km, so has other parts in the car (unless already changed) eg. suspension, gearbox fluid, radiator etc.

But I know of a particular EG gli auto approaching 300,000km and it's powering on strong as a daily.
