Since it's common in hondas for bearings in the box to go ie. Input shaft bearing, a thing that I haven't seen covered and for future references when someone has the issue, when they are changed do they need to be worn in? How do you make sure once replaced the bearings don't shoot themselves again?

I don't think they have to be worn in. I've been told to 'change it when the noise becomes so bad you can't stand it' lol but I suppose if you're doing your clutch or whatever that's a good opportunity.
There's a DIY on the forums on how to change it but it's a sure big job.

I had a noisy input shaft bearing earlier in the year in my EG. Slowly it started to affect the feel and pressure of the clutch pedal, i had some of the bearings replaced but they gave way again. 4 ball bearings at 50 each fml. Ended up throwing in a new gearbox for a good price, cheap for d series.

Yeah I've had mine fixed twice and they shit themselves pretty much straight away again and I don't drove my car hard..
So was wondering if anyone knew what we had to do when we replace them for future references

I mean maybe there is a better gearbox oil Than Honda mtf?

The reson the gearbox fails again is because you wait until you cant stand the noise any more. by then the metal fragments of the failed bearing have gone to town on the rest of the gearbox bearings and bearing races. Just swapping bearings is not going to fix it. You have to inspect all parts for wear and pitting and then replace all failed parts.

as ecuman says........
every part in the gearbox should be inspected and cleaned when replacing fuked bearings, i had a stuffed input shaft bearing and it got worse and worse over a 8month driving period, when i stripped the box, i had every part washed by my mechanic and i ended up changing every bearing in the gear box ($440 in bearings)
i used MTF honda oil and never had another issue...

yeah man, i did this exact thing, although dont know if they cleaned all the other parts. all bearings replaced, and synchros were sweeett
if you say clean the other parts, they should know what to do i assume? lol

did you actually see them do it or did you just take their word lol
did they use the right input shaft bearing or just use a cheap generic one?
honda fluid is the standard so if you having repeated problems with your gearbox
then its not the oem fluid
as ecu man said its is something else in your gearbox that is causing it
should be covered by warranty who ever did it for you anyway

Yeah Lan, it is so free job. I wasn't there but he is family friend so trust him a bit more than an average mechanic. Well what is the cause of the isb giving way?
I know another dc2r does it and a vtir prelude

wrong isb ,put in incorrectly, etc
how long is a piece of string
you should ask the person who installed it they would be the best to explain
as they did it for you
i did mine when it started making noises never had a any issues after wards
i used a ngk isb for a type r and using oem fluids

ECUMan is on the money.
& this coupled with the cheapest fix by a mate is a sure fire way to get repeat trouble.
Appart from lack of proper inspection, the usual mistake of the inexperienced is to fail to properly clean the inside of the main & counter shafts when the box is appart.
Also, all bearings need to be removed from the cases & oil guides removed & all crap cleaned out.
Failure to do this will guarantee more problems.

I see I see. How should they all be cleaned inside? Just to tell the mechanic if he isn't aware.
Thanks so far everyone!!

when the mainshaft and counter shaft are out, do you just spray in solvent and thats it?
theres no lube packed in there somewhere?
im guessing that it's best to remove all gears/synchros and clean separately.
same thing goes for differential too? most of metal shavings located here.
im really sure i cant just spray bearings with solvent because theyre lubed internally?
needle bearings can be cleaned with solvent?

the proper way to do is to dismantle the shafts, clean and inspect all gear surfaces, bearing races and bearings. Solvent works for cleaning. the shafts need to be inspected for straightnes and then assembles and clearances checked.
its all in the shop manual

Further to above, use some decent pipe cleaner brushes inside the shafts.
Diffs should be completly dissasembled & cleaned too
