Im after a bodykit for my integra. Is there any sites you guys recommend? (or shops in melb)
Ive looked at some usa sites but not too sure about the fitting as they're under "acura integra" and i dunno if USDM differs from AUDM

I've seen lots of dc's around with the black lip thing (mugen lip), where do you get one of those? and how come it's black? is that the style lol

It comes unpainted (black ABS or Poly). You can then either get it painted, or leave it black. Up to the person who purchased it.

Lip kits etc. generally look better to most than bodykits, however it is preference. If you like bodykits go for your life, just remember that alot of people will not like it (but who cares right? It's your car!).

Only issue? When you try to sell it. You already have a GSI... You paid a pretty sum for a GSI, and you're already going to struggle to try to get anything near what you paid for it. If you bodykit it it will be worth less...

Lastly, most bodykits are fibreglass. From reading your posts (scraping and it's not even lowered), are you sure you want to get a bodykit? Instead of just a scrap, fibreglass will actually break (it doesn't flex like your ABS bumper). It's very brittle in that respect and much less durable.

BTW are you chinese?

Mugen front lip and Type R front lip can be bought on this site. Go marketplace > JDM Yard > should be a link saying Lip kits or something. They're about $130 I'm pretty sure. As above, its up to you to paint it or not, I think a lot of people prefer it to stay black, but when I get one I'll probably paint it. :)

androo: Nah i'm not chinese, what led you to ask that lol

act_gooner: since you've got a dc4 as well, you would be able to help me :) the jdmyard dc2 front lips are sure fit onto the dc4s yeah? just chuck the screws in and done. and also it's $149 if posted i think. i believe we have the same coloured car, dark blue?

Ummmm I'm pretty sure its the exact same fit, just make a post in the thread asking or pm the JDM Yard seller, can't remember his name, to be certain. Yeah, adriatic blue pearl, real nice color!

The colours weird though, sometimes it looks navy, sometimes purpley and sometimes black!

PMed jdmyard, he said it will fit and 149 shipped is cheapest he can do.

gooner, were you thinking of getting mugen or R? the only visible difference i can tell from pics is that mugen has the 2 holes

Bulbasaur

yes a dc2 lip will fit a dc4

Hey guys, does anyone know if 'Modproject' is still a running business? The shop on ozhonda seems to have expired but they had an awesome array of front lips back in the day

act_gooner
13-01-2011, 08:45 PM
The mugen lip is more rounded where as the Type R one looks like the front of a Type R... I will be getting the Mugen one when I can be bothered to lower my car as I don't want to try and make it look like a Type R, plus most people put on the Type R Mugen is a little different, here in Canberra anyway.

Yeah the website is like broken... the 'products' link fails lol. i left him an email this afternoon, hope i get a reply :S

knowing me though, a day after i install a lip it's likely to fly off as i bounce into the curb then i'll drive over it as i exit my driveway.

I've gotten two quotes for the type R and mugen front lip from JDMYard and Shift Performance. A shop near me is also selling them so ill call up for prices later on.

Is there any difference between the items these shops are selling in terms of quality? Or are they exactly the same, but just happen to be different prices? If so, should i go for the cheapest one?

Riced_Civic
14-01-2011, 11:21 AM
they all come out of pretty much the same factory.

they are all copies, price is just dependent on the shops. imo just get the cheapest one

Modproject is alive. Their website is a lol outdated so it's best to go see them in person or call regarding stock. If ur close Then just drop by...

I wouldn't go replica type r lip, do it once do it right, oem type r or stick with the mugen rep.

My two cents

Mm JDMyard $149, shift performance $145, both delivered
OTR $150 pick up (guy on the phone didn't really know his stuff so reluctant to purchase from here).

I'm tempted to go with JDMyard even though their price is higher due to their reputation. Has anyone here had/heard experiences from shift performance?

Hmm... what are you guys' thoughts on ABS plastic vs. polyurethane?

Riced_Civic
14-01-2011, 05:42 PM
y not go to OTR i got my lip kit from there.

uve probably talked to the new guy the hired, as jhonny is away on holiday.

since ur in melb y not go down and have a look at what they have got, they also will alow u to test fit.

charliebrown
14-01-2011, 05:55 PM
Mm yeah that's the advantage of pick-up, can see with my own eyes which one i prefer. It's only 10 minutes away but im too lazy lol
Would they screw it on for you as well for free? I've read it's just 2 screws and some pieces of double sided tape.

Riced_Civic
14-01-2011, 06:58 PM
they can do it for u but not sure if they would charge.

getting charged for sumthing that simple isnt really sumthing u want, its very easy to DIY.

ive never used double sided tape. ive always put 2 wide flat screws in the middle of the lip and just painted over them.

tape usually come of sooner or later thats y i opted for screws, might not look pretty but i know itll stay on if i accidentally scrape over a bump

charliebrown
14-01-2011, 07:03 PM
Does it come with an installation guide and screws? I'm noob as

Riced_Civic
14-01-2011, 07:17 PM
no instruction as its only 1 way to do it

yes there is screws but only 2, u need to go buy another 2 if u do my route with them in the middle

charliebrown
14-01-2011, 07:22 PM
Ahh i've only scraped a few times at very low speeds so 2 screws should hold it i hope

I've read that mugen lip makes the front lower and have a much lower look than the type R, might just buy it online and fiddle around at home to screw it on. Does it require any kind of 'drilling' into the car? Or just a screwdriver will suffice as the holes are already there in the bumper

Bulbasaur
14-01-2011, 09:41 PM
pm me when you break the lip or dont want it lol ill pick it up off you. you dont need a drill just get a screwdriver and a screw and force it, its only plastic. even if your adding extra support screws in the middle it will be at the bottom of the bumper so no one is going to see the holes. i cant remember but i think that the holes on the side are already marked for a lip (no holes though) but again... its just plastic so you can force a screw though it

Thats not very good having to put 2 screws in the middle :S
My mate done that, looks sorta ugly, are there any actual lips that use the oem holes to hold the lip? that iev always wondered, if not, than ill just stick to my sir lip

abs or poly? abs is harder like a bonner but poly is more flexible. even though both are flexible there both plastics and poly would probably be the better choice as it dosnt crack or snap as easy. the bumper of your car is most likely made of abs btw.

abs plastic is the industry standard plastic used on all automotive, poly flexs to much ive found under heat, as a front lip its fine, as a rear lip, expect it to warp from the heat from the exhaust

If ur wanting a good lip, either buy a oem lip or abs knock off lip

Hahah bro why you after a broken/used lip?

And can someone comment on the mugen vs type R about which one reduces space to the ground? I sort of want to avoid massive scraping but at the same time want the lower look without actually lowering (yep, im pov)

i know it was gonna look ugly i said that in my post, but but id rather have it secure then it loose on the bumper.
i have 4 screws holding the lip to the bumper 2 in OEM position in the arches and 2 where the lip goes into the front. where i live theres alot of speed humps so id rather sacrifice looks than loosing the lip and spending more money.
