Hey guys,

I recently just installed a Skunk2 Intake Manifold and Injen CAI on my 98 Vti-R.

The car has been running great in the 5 days since the install. But this morning on the way to work I got a CEL. After reading up abit, I did the DIY ecu test as soon as I got home...

I am getting a code 23, which is for the knock sensor.

Is it possible that the knock sensor was damaged during the install? Or is my ecu going crazy with the huge increase in air-flow? I reset my ecu right after the parts went in.

Has anyone else had a code 23? Im not going to stuff around, i'll go straight into Honda on Monday to see what the exact problem is. Should I be expecting a big bill for a diagnosis/fix?

The car is still running great, but i'm definitely going to baby it until Monday. If it is the knock sensor, Im guessing it's going to start running super rich?

I appreciate any help/insight.

Update: Just went outside and had a look under the manifold for the sensor. It's literally hanging there from it's cable. The plastic casing has broken clean. Fml.

Is it dangerous to drive without it?

Not dangerous, just really crap mileage, like 400-450 a full tank. My cars been without the knock sensor and no problems so far. Just secure and dangling bits until you replace the part.

Thanks.

Yeah I've noticed that the car is definitely bogging down low in the rev range and there's a very noticeable flat spot in power through the mid range aswell.
