hi all

i am seriously contemplating a Civic as my next car for just general commute and driving use and i was considering the 96+ versions,

just a quick question can can anyone tell me if the 96 GLI version has remote keyless entry? If not which version?

I am only looking at a civic for their quality and reliability and not to hot it up or anything like that.

Thx

hey man, my mums got an EK and it dont have that but its just a Cxi. And really i wouldnt have a clue hehe, but one option if you cant find one with it could be if you just get an alarm. youll prob need it anyways ;)

it doesn't come standard with remote keyless entry, nor did the GLi
so if you buy one that does, that means whoever had it before you must've got it as an accessory or did it themselves.

your best bet would to be just buy a civic and if it doesn't have it then just get an alarmed installed which comes wif a remote keyless entry thingy

sounds like a good idea

what would be the cost of that?

depends what you want in an alarm system!! and what brand etc etc.

for example there is one in our marketplace forum going for $230 which i think does the job (didn't read the description thoroughly though)

pretty much any alarm system you buy with a remote will have central locking. Easiest way around it :) Good luck

Make sure when you get the alarm installed with keyless entry, you did not lose the central locking capability. My alarm installer replaced the lock system on my EK civic and I got keyless entry, but cannot centrally lock/unlock anymore :( And I found out about it a year over after it was installed :x

so it starts from 2000 model ?

the 2000 EK (mo's model) as he said does not have keyless entry

the 2000 ES (aka 7th gen, current shape/model) has keyless entry as standard

but yeh as everyone's been saying, if you're going to install an alarm, it should have keyless entry
