I was lookin at a set of wheels a guy was selling on one of the other forums, he told me that he had 2 hairline cracks in one of the wheels and he was getting it welded. Saw some pics, the crack goes from the outside edge of the wheel for about 1-2cm's (towards the centre of the wheel).

Would this make the wheel structurally unsound? He doesn't want a whole lot for the wheels, and they'd look great on my car.. just don't wanna buy something thats gonna break on me.

Any advice?

i would seriously advise you against it.
if you think about it, what you see of the track is only on the surface. welding might help on the SURFACE. but how about internal crack?
if there's anything on the surface, there's a possibility of an internal crack and it might spread/extend without you knowing it.

i don't think it's worth it. better be safe than sorry.

true. it's not worth the risk.

and someone else said that they tyre pressure would be iffy, cos of the possibility of it not being totally sealed anymore.

thanx
