B16A - OBD0

I change the spark leads to NGK the car wouldn’t start =/
It cranks but immediately its switch off as if there is no spark
then taught there might be a wire loose or wrong firing order..

so i double check and make sure everything was fine

Try back to start the car! yes it went alive and idles just fine.
i left it idle for 5 min then i take it out for a spin..
less then 2 min driving down the road near my house.

car decided to die.. all the sudden. AS if there is an ignition cut
All lights turn off, even i cant signal
radio off too.

As i prepare for this, i brought my stock leads with me
change them back to stock on the side of the road.

immediately the car is back on.
everything was normal.

So then i just put the Standard one back in because i taught there is something wrong with the NGK Blue

Then I took it to work this morning and all went smooth sailing until mid way to work it died. like previously
WTF? so i pulled over. wait until the car is stop

turn it back on (no check light) it starts again. and it get me to work.

Changing leads shouldn do anything as that leads is new.
my guess is the dizzy playing up.. but im not so sure yet :(

Do you guys have Any idea whats the problem is?

Cheers,
C

Test resistance of new leads compaired to old ones? Might be a dud from factory.

did u replace with NEW oem items or aftermarket ?
did you replace one at a time ( making sure the location is correct) ?

Aftermarket
I replaced them with New NGK Blue - Fresh out of the box

Yeap Replace them one at the time to make sure it has the same firing order as the old ones.

If it was a DUD from factory it could be just 1,2 not all 4 ? and it should start with WRX engine sound..

could be all good resistance until they heat up and connection fails - loose or frayed lead somewhere or even cracks etc

Chris posted on another forum:

which suggest to me that it's NOT related to ignition/diizzy/leads.. and apparently this happened again today with the Original leads back on..

the impedance and reduced resistance of the new leads may cause some other issue elsewhere in the electrical system - but they are not the problem themselves ?

the lights and signals etc not working is interesting...

hrmmmmm, interesting one,

i would be checking over the wiring loom around the main start relay, should be under the drivers side of the dash. old wiring can be sensitive.

i cannot remember (been too long since ive played with a b series) what kind of ignition power supply they use ie: remote coil etc etc.

Chris if your free anytime over the weekend ill be glad to drive out and have a gander at a few things for you.

I had very similar problem to this.
I had changed my dizzy cap, rotor and leads and had the same issues until one day it would just not start at all.
My issue was either a coil or ignition module....i just ended up changing the entire dizzy as once one goes, the other isnt far off.
Once changed everything went back to normal.
If you need a dizzy pm me as i can get brand new units through work.

i've found the problem
the ignitor cable coming loose at the dizzy.
cable tie to hold them together.

i've must touched it or moved it and it come loose =p

All good now :) no problem at all!
