was going to buy them at one stage but i went with the tein s tech springs because they have the same drop and Yonas didn't have the eibach's in stock at the time, plus i couldn't be bothered searching around for them or getting them from overseas. The Tein's were heaps cheaper too :P

Have a look at the bottom of this page (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?139115-My-EK-Civic-Casual-Project/page5)on my build thread, it's got photo's of the car with the springs installed and after they settled in too. I have them combined with Skunk 2 sports shocks btw, makes them slightly lower because of the shorter shock body. I find them comfy just for my daily and not too bad around turns either. If i had my time over though i would get coilovers, unless your on super bumpy roads, because i'm just not happy with the height. I know everyone say to get coilovers and having been in a similar car with them, i just wish i had have got them now.My car it is just for a daily and i need it to be practicle but i would give up some of the pracitcality to be able to sit it down lower. if you have the cash and can justify it get coils for sure

I had a look at those pics, but the car looks quite high. Frankly, it looks stock!

Wait

I found it. It was on another page. Nice modest drop.

lol so polite :P that's what i mean though, its just no where near low enough, funily enough my mid muffler scrapes everytime i drive into my car-port because it's quite steep on the way in so i probably couldn't go much lower anyway, it's ok for what i need the car for but i still wish it was a bit lower

My house has a steep driveway with a spoon drain on top.

As long as my combo gives me better cornering and is a good compromise between handling and comfort, with the potential for one or two track days I'll be happy. ATM, I'm problably thinking of Koni Yellow sports and Eibachs.

It's a budget mod and ATM, all is available from ebay USA for 1100 all up including shipping. I'd be DIYing the install, so my only expense will be 50-60 buck for wheel alignment.

Oz_Striker
01-02-2011, 08:08 PM
that sounds like a good combo. Have you got spring compressors to do the install?

Mikecivic78

No, they need to be gotten. Tool wise I've got everything else.

Eibach sportline 1.6" front 1.6" back

According to Eibach site. Finally found it, navigation problems is all.

When i was looking to get the pro kit, i was told by a few suppliers that it was a 1.3 inch drop all round. I just hope you get the right info bro

Will do. Just bought pro kit from a guy on ebay that bought em and didnt use them. $310 shipped. They should arrive soon. I'll order shockies from the states soon also. I'll definitely post pics.

just a head's up, from experience the quoted sportline figures are rather… conservative
not sure if the prokit's are the same

Thanks for the info vinnY. So ur saying that it might, in reality, be lower?

I've been told koni yellows (the dampers that I'll be matching them with) have 2 or so perches on the shockie so you can decide how low. I need to look into that, as I can't go too low due to my driveway.

well the last koni yellow/eibach sportline setup I ran made the front wheel arch sit on the top of the tyre(195/55/15) so definitely more than 1.8"
rear sat about 20mm above the tyre

with the koni's for ek/em the front has 2 perches, stock height and about an inch lower(I ran on the stock perch and still got a big drop)
rear has 3, stock height and about an inch above/below stock

but you know, prokit might differ :)

Mikecivic78
10-02-2011, 01:29 PM
Thanks vinnY, I hope I put it on the right perch. Wouldn't want to have to take it apart twice.

Should I just stick it on the stock height perch front and rear for a modest 1"-1.3" drop?

You said that the fronts are an inch different between perches. That means that using the lower perch would lower the car much more substantially ( more than 2" drop).

vinnY
10-02-2011, 01:36 PM
yeah the koni's usually come on the appropriate perches for stock heights(top on the front, middle of the rear)

afaik the drops are quoted on stock shocks, so putting it on the stock perch *should* have the same effect

yep putting it on a lower perch will drop it further

Mikecivic78
10-02-2011, 02:13 PM
Hmmm, maybe I should put it on the stock perches.

I hope that it gives me the desired drop.

Might do some more googling on the topic, or maybe contact Koni/eibach about this combo. Install is still a few weeks away.

To be honest for that price i would get some coilovers. I just bought some Tein Super Streets form the US and i find them very comfortable and can get stiff for the track.
And you sound like you want your drop to your licking which you will be able to do.
I have my ones set just above the fender which allows me to get up my driveway.
They still have about another 1.5" left do drop if i want.

Ok, i just ordered the konis, despite lack of cash I used the credit card... should get 'em within ten days from the 'States.

Oz_Striker, u inspired me to get off my arse and just do it.

So I should keep the install on schedule for the end of the month.

I installed the Eibach pros and Konis yesterday, and the drop was a bit surprising. I used the stock perches on the Konis: top perch front/ middle perch rear.

The drop is as follows: Front 50mm (nearly 2inch) and Rear about 25mm (nearly 1 inch)

I'm a bit confused by the difference in drop. Eibach quote 1.5" front 1.0" rear Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks

Mike

give the bushes time to settle

like I said before the eibach ratings are conservative :)

probably has a lot to do with bushes and such as well

just drop the rear circlip down to the bottom one to even it out ;)
the rear's generally higher on ek's anyway from what I've seen

Mikecivic78
19-04-2011, 08:49 PM
Thanks vinnY :)

I'll give it time to settle like you said and then adjust it later if need be. I'm getting a wheel alignment tomorrow.

ATM it looks a bit like an old school hotrod with the higher rear. I'll post a pic as soon as this bad Brissie weather passes. Handles well though .

What method do you recommend for moving down the rear circlip (short of pulling the shocks out and apart again) ?

vinnY
19-04-2011, 08:57 PM
no other way unfortunately, depends on your technique on pulling apart the rear suspension

I usually unbolt the shock and trailing arm from the lca and loosen the bolt on the subframe and let the lca dangle(after taking off the sway bar end links)
take out the 2 bolts at the top and drop the shock, install in reverse order

Thanks mate...just thought there might be a way to compress the spring while it's still in there. I've read about many ghetto methods online in my time LOL.

Yesterday when I did it I used the steps you mentioned except I removed the 14mm LCA to rear trailing arm bolt towards the wheel area. I guess around half of people remove the subframe bolt, but IMO my way is a bit easier to put back together later.

I'll leave it for now I think. I caught a cold doing the suspension install in the mud and crap outdoors yesterday so I'm a bit over it atm.

vinnY
20-04-2011, 03:43 PM
I thought I did say to remove the bolt on the lca>trailing arm? :p

did you do anything about your bump stops though? not sure what the instructions on the eibach's are

Mikecivic78
20-04-2011, 03:50 PM
Woops, I misread your post. My bad. :o

With regards to the bumpstops, I just trimmed them and re-installed them. They were a bit discoloured and perished on the part I cut off. Maybe I should have gotten new ones but I was a bit tight arsed with my budget.

As far as Eibachs though, I couldn't find instructions for them anywhere. The Koni instructions say to replace the bumpstops and dust covers if they are perished or raggedy.

vinnY
20-04-2011, 03:52 PM
yeah getting them in australia's not cheap, I called up honda for a quote
ended up something like 40/ea

ended up getting some from the us for about 15/ea.

Mikecivic78
20-04-2011, 03:56 PM
Yea, I got quoted 40 each also, so I decided to re-use the old ones.

I hope that they will be ok.

Heres what she looks like with Koni Sport and Eibach Pro Kit. Front height is ideal for me, but rear could be a bit lower.

And the answer is Yes, it's an EM1 with EJ8 tail lights in case anyone wants to ask.

looks about right, my old sport lines were an inch lower front and rear

Mikecivic78

I like the drop, it's very manageable with my steep driveway.

Thanks again for all the advice vinnY.
