Hey all,

This topic - probably done to death but hang on! Done google searches and an OzHonda search, found nothing that really helps me to understand what costs, taxes, tarriffs, bloody pink, yellow slips etc... that I'm up for on top of the cost of the car. I have found one of these cars for AU$17,000, immaculate and 30,000kms etc and a 98 JDM DC2r for AU$14,000... Is it worth it to import? What charges am I up for. Can anyone give me an approx. figure that I'd be looking for all up? This is from J's Garage - www.j-garage.com/ (http://www.j-garage.com/) and their website tells you bugger all as well. Anybody know about this stuff? Thanks ppl - and no fricken flames. If you see this post and think "OMG what is this guy on about! It's been done so many times!" Well I can't find any info that is straight forward and "bullshit" filtered.

You cant import DC2R as its already sold in Australia. I dont know much about rebuilds ,maybe someone else does, but a rebuild is the only way to get one into AUS.

You can import it - as a race car
can not be road registered

and an SiR is just about the same as a VTiR locally

Its not as cheaps it seems to import a car, there so much process and months of wait to get the car here and plus it so much harder to import cars now as before. You say $17,000AU, thats the base price now plus import tax + importer's charge + plus shipping + all these slip charge + local dealer charge + a few extra. You'd prob looking around 10k+ on top of the base price. Registration, aint as easy as before too.
