dc5r revving by itself between 1k rpm and 2k rpm

hey guys,

i had taken my dc5r off the road as i was going to perform its 100k service, i also neede new brake pads and decided to get the rotors machined while i was at it.

the car was off the road for a little over a month. In this time the battery went flat which i was half expecting when i went to start it up yesterday.

all i changed was sparkplugs, pads, oil filter, new oil, clean my air filter and that about it.

anyway my problem is after push starting my car it consistantly revs by itself. it goes up to 2k rpm then drops back to 1k rpm and repeats this consistantly at idle or when the clutch is in. cant tell when im driving.

What could be the problem? i drove around for about 15min so the battery starts the car now. i also tried disconnecting the neutral terminal off the battery to reset the computer but that has not fixed the problem.

it was fine before i took the car off the road. Any suggestions?:confused:

exactly right. The ICAV is located underneath the throttle body - and when off for a decent amount of time it fills with carbon and crap and seizes open. You need to take it off , then undo it with a special 5 sided torx driver ( or just cut a groove on each bolt ). This loosens the flap and you can freely rotate it and spray a bunch of carb cleaner or upper head cleaner and get all the gunk out.

thanks guys, cleaned my iacv last night and problem solved! i jusy used pliers to undo those special bolts.
