6x9 install question

Hi guys I just installed 6x9s in my EK in the original speaker slots in the rear shelf and now I can't get the covers or the back tray back on. Looks real messy now. Anyone had this issue and what did you do?

why cant you put the covers back on? they should just sit straight back on how you took them off and screwed in? unless your speakers are higher?

Yeah they sit higher then the original pioneer ones.

well unfortunately if the speakers themselves sit higher than the original ones you can do anything other than get different speakers

Yeah I realise if the covers don't fit they can't go on.

Wondering if anyone has done any custom work?

you can cut off some of the plastic from under the original speaker cover.
