Noise when Turning / Accelerating

When U- turning and accelerating at low speeds, car makes a really loud continuous groaning noise coming from the engine bay somewhere.
Power steering pump fluid is full and appears to not be leaking.
Ive been told a bad power steering pump or steering rack but just want to see your input on this before i go out and by one.

Any ideas guys?

If it was a bad steering pump it should just be hard to turn the sterring wheel and car, there shouldnt be a groaning noise, maybe be something to do with the sterring rack or axle Have a look at your car, are the tyres evenly spaced back and forward for the sides of the car? A previous owner may have hit the kerb or something and bent the wheel back.
