Hey guys,
I'm a new member here and I don't own a Honda...
But I would like to get more info on Honda's
Ok, now my first question is what times does a STOCK DC2 Type R down the quarter mile?
And, what gives the DC2 such praised handling? Is it the double wishbone suspension honda use or is it just carefull chassis/suspension tweaking honda has done?

Not a honda owner too, but as far as i'm awared, Stock Type R will give low 15s (Aus spec) As for why DC2's praised handling, besides the double wishbone, it's also due to the already added braces around the car in stock form, that makes it good handling in stock form. For more info, there is plenty of info at the sticky thread section.

Ok type R is known for its balance. If you put an average weighing person in the passegner side and weighed the car the weight is still symmetrical all round, hence giving it optimum weight balance. This is achieved through their double wish suspension + springs, bushings and the stablisers.

Actually I don't mean factory specs or anything
I mean specs of Type R's taken onto a dragway?
As I know my car will do about 14.6 on a dragstrip (identical car with same engine run that time) so I want to know weather I am in real life quicker than a Type R, without considering how good of a driver me or the ITR owner is

Stock R should run a very similar time.
but having said that - i hate the idea R's and dragstrips - just such a waste of 14 seconds of your life.
My best ET is 14.93... but driving in straight lines is VERY ***** boring.

Yup i would have to agree with the others.. Honda's are handling cars.....track / circuit racing..

i have seen Stock 96spec ITRs run as fast as 14.5.
it should be a little quicker in australia since NZ dragstrips are quite bad.
my 96spec ITR with IHE bolt-ons has run a 13.8@101mph.
this was done on average street tyres and 95% full interior.
i like pushing my ITR on the track more than the dragstrip.
IMO cornering is the type r's strongest point, dragracing is its weaker point.

13.8??
Do you have timeslips??
I don't think a near stock Type R on street tyres would ever even get close to 13 second range

What kind of kw at the wheels are you getting?
Do you have any weight reduction?
flyryd

i get 135kw on roller dyno, 140kw on dynapack hub dyno www.gizzmoelectronics.co.nz (http://www.gizzmoelectronics.co.nz) .
just to compare, most DC2rs with IHE vafc2(tuned) etc get 125-130kw on roller dyno in nz.
weight reduction, front passenger recaro and rear seat 20-25kg all together.

Still 13.8...
THat's very quick for what you have...
How much quicker than stock is it?
And how is it in traffic?

stock jdm ITRs ive seen are as quick as 14.5 at champion dragway.
i dont have any problems in traffic, i am only using a exedy daiken clutch. makes daily driving very easy :)

I think Wayne In his STOCK DC2R with a full interior and straight of the car yard ran a 13.9 at the Honda drags. No mods..

You don't get hardly any understeer in any of the type r series.

Any FWD cars pushed to the limit will understeer, even with LSD. ;)

and every rwd car when pushed to the limit will oversteer.
The "limit" of the type r series is a lot higher then other fwd cars.

its just stoopid putting the Type R on the drag strip.
technik tuning did a 13.8 Type R and it was on an issue of Motor mag a few years back ( together with a nice WRX and hot 200SX). it only had exhaust, intake and comp.

its possible to get a 13.8..generally this would have to be a JDM type R...my friends gf...had a JDM dc2R..fully modded using slicks..not tuned and ran a 14.4 down the quarter...however she bogged the launch a bit..she said she should have ran a 14.0 easily...oh by the way this was a chic driver :)
