why get cams and cheap out on a ecu. if your low on money, then save it.

now just runing cai and headers... i dont want exhaust as lame as it sounds and i know headers are restricted without it but ye... had it tuned before and gained 15kw atw. I figiured id get cams and valve springs but i cant afford a ecu... k series stuff costs too much, and then the dyno tuning....
so is it possible to tune the upgrade with a vafc?

I/H/E + hondata
dont get cams yet. first see what your car is capable of, what would need replacing after i/h/e hondata is installed. see how g/box will behave, small things like that.
hondata will give you good gains, if not better. you will feel that power when fitted/tuned.
best of luck bro.

dude, listen to what people are saying!!! YOU DONT NEED CAMS!!! ITS A DUMB IDEA!!!
You only start opening up the motor when everything else is done.
Do the rest of the exhaust and get a proper ECU.
without them the cams are pointless!!!!
Cams are basically the lungs of a car. They control how much air it takes in and breathes out. The ecu is like the brains and heart of the car. They control what you do with all this extra air.
Getting cams without an ecu or exhaust would be like someone getting the lungs of a racehorse transplanted into them, but having the brain and heart of a 2 year old kid. It just wouldnt be able to use it, and in fact, itd make it WORSE. The heart doesnt have the energy, or the blood to be able to keep up with the lungs, and the brain cant even use it, so it only uses a fraction of the capacity.
This is exactly what would happen to you. The car would run like shit, you would use so much fuel it wouldnt be funny, and youd get over it in about 2 weeks.
DONT DO IT!!!!!!!!!

can someone answer the question please?
i do not want an exhaust on my car... it will attract too much attention, nor can i afford anytime soon a decent exhaust which isnt noisy as shit.. and i understand that this will restrict my cars performance similarly i understand i need a new ecu + tune to get optimal performance out of the mod, however my question is, is it posible to tune a cam upgrade through a piggyback like the vafc2. if you cant answer the question dont waste your time.
btw for some reason my car IS ALREADY shit on fuel (400km give or take out of a full tank not thrashing too much) with only a CAI, and extractors and a vafc... took it to status tuning for a tune and the bloke said the fueling was spot on so i dont think cams are gona hinder my millage

I JUST ANSWERED YOUR QUESTION FOR ****S SAKE! READ THE POST AGAIN AND YOULL SEE IT CLEAR AS DAY.
getting cams without an ecu or exhaust would be like someone getting the lungs of a racehorse transplanted into them, but having the brain and heart of a 2 year old kid. It just wouldnt be able to use it, and in fact, itd make it worse. The heart doesnt have the energy, or the blood to be able to keep up with the lungs, and the brain cant even use it, so it only uses a fraction of the capacity.
how is it so difficult to understand that?
Yes youll be able to adjust the fuel ratio, but you need to do more than that to get the most out of cams. You need to be able to adjust the timing, both ignition and cam timing, both of which you can only do with a full ecu.

in theory you could attempt to tune a cam with a VAFC
but you will loose performance and waste time and money
buying a cam before an ECU will just make the car run worse than the way it runs now
you are better off saving and getting an ECU and tuning your stock system
you will get positive results - than if thats not enough put in a cam
you will need a proper ECU to tune the cam
as for the exhaust - hit your cat with a mallet and install a Dc5 Type-S muffler - cheap and effective lol

If ur gonna use a piggy back, mite as well go with a Hondata S100 or 200, not sayin piggy back is bad, but it can limit what u can tune to make the most of the mods, save up a bit more an go the full ecu chip or aftermarket ecu
Rather than buying new cams, get a new exhaust system, problem solved

If you don't have the money for a good ECU...
...or the money for a decent exhaust that isn't 'noisy as shit'...
...then why are you even considering cam shafts and gears?
Won't work/isn't worth it without a good ECU/exhaust.
No you can't tune it properly with VAFC2.
You should get a proper ECU that will not only perform several times better with more tuning options, but it might even smooth out your fuel usage.
Get get a good exhaust first of all things. They're not that much more expensive than a set of shafts/gears and as for the noise well just make sure you buy a quiet one with a good tone. Did you think cams would make your car quieter? Lol my stage 1's made my car much louder, especially the crossover it's crazy loud now...

as everyone has said MAKE YOUR ENGINE BREATHE
An engine is basiucally an air pump if you can afford cams & gears (about 1k) you can get a PowerFC or similar for the same price then save $300 for a install and tune - doing anything else is wasting your time and money
a good custom exhaust is about 1.5k
READ first dont just get cams so you can say - i ahve cams - your not going to benefit at all from them until you get an exhaust + your fuel consumption will be better when you do get a less restrictive exhaust

Yes. Theres your answer. You can tune your car with cams on it with a VAFC. You will be wasting the money you spend on the cams because of the lost gains, but you can tune it.
Which you already admitted so no reason for everyone to jump down your throat.
If you are low on cash then dont spend it on cams. Put it away and save it for a rainy day. Mods are for people with cash flow.
