Hi,

Looking at this Teggy on carsales:

http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=9852636&__Qpb=true&Cr=10&__Ns=pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|1||pCar_RankSort_Int32 |1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&keywords=&__No=45&__N=1216%201246%201247%201252%201282%204294965322% 204294965105%20462%20412%20898&silo=1011&PriceTo=412&seot=1&PriceFrom=462&tsrc=allcarhome&__Nne=15&trecs=124&__sid=12C4D717E406

Met with the buyer, everything with the car seemed excellent apart from 2 things:

1. When I looked at the engine block stamp, it had a black sort of resin/looked kind of burnt. It said ' B18C ' . Seemed a little strange considering the rest of the block was clean.

2. When I drove the car he said not to rev it past 7k as this is the way it is tuned. When I did rev past this limit, it didn’t ping, It did still kept revving but didn’t feel as if much more power was coming through. Could this be due to Final drive with the V-tir gearbox or is it not a genuine Jap dc2r engine.

Also he has ITB's so I couldn’t check any codes on the intake.

After asking a few people, I’ve heard that this was for sale maybe a few months ago but the thread was deleted?

Can anyone shed some light/opinions? Which honda performance specialist around Strathfield/Burwood would be best to determine what engine it is?

Thanks.

wtf why wud u detune to less revs?
umm in victoria u can do a vicroads check thing, which says which engine is registed to that vehicle idk bout nsw
according to the engine number on the carslaes things its still a b18c2 registered on it meanin it =didnt swap it or its a vtir motor
final drive 4.9 means ud want pretty high rev too but yeh

Pretty sure the ex owner or owners are on here.

Why don't you do a rta rego check ( costs $18) and you can get it's entire rego history also if it's been written off stolen etc etc

yea i have that also, which checks out fine its that the eng # doesnt match the car as it's not engineered. backyard job.

this used to be geeangs car , my mate owns it now, its immaculate, registering it to the car shouldn't be hard at all ive done a b20 and its fine but i think cause it has ITB's that it would be harder
its a genuine JDM B18C and can rev to 8400rpm, BYP boys built it there on this site,
