you should also condiser doing the crank and cam shaft seals aswell, you dont want to do all that work and find out a few weeks later there leaking.

you could take off the water pump and inspect it for corossion, if its badly corroded then replace it, if its clean just get a new gasket and put it back on.

check the drive belts for cracks, if there cracking then replace them.

Perhaps you should let the mechanic source your parts... buying parts and then taking them to a mechanic to fit for you may only just add up to more... as mechanics we do get trade prices.

It's true,it's true!

I would use some 'super engine conditioner' too.

added items to topic starters list:

tension pulley
power steering fluid
water pump
check radiator for fatigue on top tank and leaks
inspect all bushes, check the rear trailing arms as theyll more than likely have wear and need replacing now

belts will be fine, mine are very old belts, they out last everything like oem hoses, havent replaced one yet on my car

Exactly the same as 'Suburu upper engine cleaner' - awesome product.

Cleans all the carbon build up from the upper engine, most important ly the valve seals. Many benefits.

My Em1 has 192,000 and still goes freaking hard. Depends on condition of the car IMO.
