Test it again with another full tank. If u get the same results then go ask ur Honda dealer/mechanic

Yep as aero says.

Could it be the quality of the fuel at that bowser ?? And what about if we use the a/c a lot ?

is the car new?, coz for the first 2-3 tanks it runs rich as, for some reason,
using a/c shouldnt affect your mileage that much, well not 200+km at least

its an 09 civic, so its not that new anymore. probably has 40,000kms or more? it should be doing a lot better than 300kms per tank.

u filled it with v-power, which is 98 ron, and shell usually make very good fuel. i dont think its the quality of the fuel. if u are concerned about it, just fill it up at another shell station or a different brand with 98 ron (perhaps bp ultimate?). a/c does affect fuel consumption, but like aznboiio1 said, it shouldnt affect ur mileage enough to only achieve 300kms from a full tank.

before u go to ur mechanic or dealer, be absolutely sure that it was not just freak one-time incident by filling it up again and conducting a test under the same conditions (or as close as possible).

Although its not a new car it has only 4000 km on the clock. Hmm this is the second time I filled up with 98 and its the second time that we have barely hit 300 km per tank. I thought it should be sitting around 500 + per tank. And if there is a problem the car is still under factory new car warranty ?

So take it back to the dealer and complain :)

300kms...city driving?...possible....

I thought it should be sitting around 500 + per tank

i can get less than 400kms before the gas light lit

aircon is always on and with 4 passenger all the time...70% city driving..30% highway

Yeah the aircon is mostly on but 80 percent of the time no more than 2 passengers

I feel for you guys with sucky mileage. My driving habits and road conditions are always so poor (heavy lead foot, lots of traffic) yet I always get good fuel consumption. Get it checked out!!!

my fd2 only got around 300KM a tank when it was that new i remember.. its still only at 28000KM and getting much better lol... tbh depends highly on how hard u drive it

maybe give caltex/bp/mobil fuel a shot rather than just shell and see how you go as well.

80% of peoples FDs on OH are really bad on petrol. crazy.

yeah my consumption aint too flash either, but i do like to hold my gears rather than have no power.

I think people have too high expectations about what the car's consumption should be.. It's a 1.8L petrol car, not a 1.5L or a diesel, and it's a fair bit heavier than a hatchback..

true true. great cars for what they are though.

lol its not crazy, it is normal. i live in inner-city suburban areas, i drive in rural areas 1% of the time per year

yeah man cat-back exhaust and x-intake are the only engine mods...

but previously in stock form the car was still achieving more than 500km per tank.

I picked the car up from sydney and on the drive home from bankstown to sunshine (like 850km) my first tank did 670km when it ran out of bars (the worst experience of my life. 3am, no petrol stations in sight, no cars in sight, pitch black roads, raining heavily, no petrol reserve in the boot and NO F***ING IDEA WHEN THE CAR WAS GONNA DIE) but half the tank was unknown petrol quality from previous owner.

When I finally found a petrol station (the first thing I noted before getting out of the car was the 670km) I only managed to pump 44L! still have the receipt as a damn good memory. Epic.

when they run out of bars, only then does the fuel light come on, right? or at about 4 bars? anyway, its a 50L tank from the website, so you could possibly push the car as far as 900km on a tank based on 5.5L/100km highway driving!

Wind direction and strength, plus driving closer to 80km/h instead of 110km/h would be important though.

Light comes on with two bars. Currently on 372km with 5 bars left

weather temperature is a big factor too...i can get more kms during winter time...

xenonkuraz

yeah the car bogs a bit in summer time...especially those 40degree days with the aircon pumping. But it doesn't seem to affect me that much...50km at the most.
