Hey guys,

been a few months now and I'm still trying to make a wise descion on either choosing a C2 or C7 gearbox, for my 97 Integra VTiR.

What my main goal is just to get the car running properly again. But then thinking to spend extra $$$'s on a better gearbox, if it is.

Is it honestly worth it? They go around from $1300 - $2000. C2 Gearbox's go from $500-$800.

With the C7 gearbox, what differences will I come accross? My mechanic said, it could maybe ruin the engine because of the gearbox was not made for the engine. Could that be true?

I wouldn't mind the C2 gearbox, but like they say, do it once do it right.

Please educate me.

i think its the same gearbox, but b7 comes with LSD and closer ration, make a huge different in controlling

B18C2 standard gearbox = 4.4 final drive
B18C7 standard gearbox = 4.7 final drive + closer gear ratios + LSD

To put it into layman's terms, with a C7 gearbox you will rev quicker (because of the final drive + closer ratios), your car will also be more predictable/pull harder through corners if you plant it (LSD), all at the cost of a little of your top speed.

Okay so far its good for handling, abit more pulling power, and it has LSD.

What about disadvantages? Will my engine survice with this gbox?

Your engine will love the C7 gearbox and will not ruin your engine as you mechanic has mentioned to you.

If you plan on keep the car for a few years then upgrade it, if your planning to sell it lyk sometime this yr, don't bother upgrading it not worth it personally, some people wouldnt know the difference in C2 or C7 gearbox.
Don't expect to sell the car for more with a type r geabox.

Comes down to what want..... but again C7 gearbox is a machine

There will be no disadvantage of having a c7 gearbox

From my knowledge a bseries gearbox will fit any bseries engine.

Had a very good think (3-4months) of which gearbox to buy and I'm just stuck on the DC2R gearbox. After so many researchs, calls etc I'm finally getting one tommorow.

Will definetly make a right-up/review comparing the c2 box,

Thanks all for the great help!

And another word of advice, ditch your mechanic cause he don't know jack about Hondas.

He will kill ur car if he thinks a B18C7 gearbox is not good for your VTi-R.

Mmm can't complain with that, his not only my mechanic his my uncle aswell. But that said i can't really risk my car going into future problems again,

I called up "premature vtec" today, he gave a number to his mechanic, apparently his a damn good mechanic, and the price he quoted was honestly unbeatable.
