Hey all,
Yesterday i went on my weekly trip to start my car for ten minutes to keep the battery going after which i checked the oil level for shits and giggles...
i notced that the di stick tube is loose... how is this secured? is it a screw on arrangement or what? i was going to attack it with a needly nose if it would reach but i wasnt sure... how is it secured in?

It sits in above a hole to the pan and is held by a small bolt isn't it ?

Can you remove the heat shields and then use a small socket with a long extension?

i guess so... it seems like the only way to do it... the top one is a definite, unsure if i need to undo the bottom one

im not sure itd be safe to drive the way it is is it?
probably not - especially when the dip sticks not secure in the hole, the oil's going to all come squirting out as you drive

hahaha, im thinking wrong but damn its a good explanatory.
it's a bugger to get to, but make sure you use quality tools because last time my cousin stripped his bolt whilst tightning it.

hmmmm i think the best bet is going to be removing the top heatshield then try and get at it with a long extension etc etc... i wonder which way the nut faces...
anyway this is great, now before i can even drive it after months and month i have to work on the bastard... thanks guys

Zilli Did you fix the problem, and if so how. did u find the bolt. I have the same problem and was reading somewhere and apparantly the tube is pressed onto the block and there should be a ring seal to stop it from moving???

I have this problem.
Is it just held in by an O ring?

What is the best way to re-secure the dip stick pipe?

Worked it out.
Best way is to install new O ring. Then make the pipe a little bit oval shape. Not too much so that it won't go in. Just enough for friction.
Its pressed in from factory anyway.
No gasket or glue needed.
