clay bar damage?

ok so ive just did clay bar for my car like a week ago and i pushed it against the car to make it into the disc shape. sometimes when i did this it would leave some residue on the car because there wasnt enough lubricant on the car when i pused it into shape. i decided to leave it and i think it stripped my clear coat, anyone ever head of this happening?
more info is that i used a hose as lubricant and its those 5 dollar clay bars with japanese packaging

if you want to do it properly buy a Mothers Claybar kit or Autoglym Claybar kit

give the car a good wash before the claybar - use the provided lubricant - ie mothers showtime
slowly run the claybar back and forth on the paint of the car - with medium pressure
if it jams there isnt enough lubricant - if it stops you are pushing too hard
it should sort of glide across the paint
after the claybar wash the car again and than give it a light polish with a quality brand wax (again Mothers or Autoglym - dont bother with anything else)

if you drop the claybar on the ground or it gets any dirt/sand/glass/dust etc in it - throw it away straight away
claybars should be kept clean and seperated from anything - say in a tupperware container

EDIT - if you think you damaged the paint where you used the sh*t claybar - buy some autoglym paint renovator and give it a really light polish with a small amount of that and a clean cloth

well it worked pretty well getting the dirt out of my sun damaged pannels and smoothed it out like it said but... it didnt get rid of the water stains in my bonnet :[

I've used a $5 fine grade claybar before. Lubricated it with soapy water. Got awesome results.

megiures is another good brand - but after extensivly using all three brands i found the mothers claybar kit the best for how much they all cost lol

You need to use at bare minimum clean car shampoo solution as a lube. Better still, use quick detailer diluted 1:1 with water in a spray bottle. You probably marred your paintwork by pressing down on the paint with the claybar. You are not supposed to press down on your paintwork. You make the disc shape with your hands and en only do you slide it over your paint. You will need to use a medium swirl remover to fix up the marring.

for the damaged area, light rub(use sanding/candy block) using ultrafine or 2000 paper with soapy water then cut, polish, and wax. i use 3m kwikcut, then 3m finesseit, then your choice of wax,
