can i put a d16y1 head, inlet and exhaust manifold on a d16y4 bottom end?
can i then run this in a eg8 vei?

Yes the mini-me VTEC has been done many times.


Should be no issues with registering it, just simple engine change over rego has to be done.


I don't see why it'd effect P-platers either.

if you are using the stock bottom end, dont even need to change the engine numbers for rego, coz its the same

heys guys in the process of doing this conversion now, if im not wrong if im using the d16y1 head on the d16y4 block, all i will need is obvious vrs kit ( head gasket etc... ) and the d16y1 wiring loom and ecu?? to make it run?

get an S20 B000 gearbox and exedy clutch + fly as well - than the thing will really rip =)
