Which k20a is mine ? :S jdm or audm

recently looking at a DC5R
VIN: JHMDC53902C200758
Engine: K20A-3671672

noticed that it was k20a-3671672 on the revs check and was wondering doesn't dc5r come in k20a2 XXXXXX? :S
also does anyone know whether or not this engine is jdm or audm? as my last dc5r had 8 digits after the k20a

No your right. K20A3 is the base model engine. DC5R's come with the AUDM K20A2 which is a watered down version of the jdm K20a. That engine number is worrying. It should say K20a-2xxxx I think. Where did you buy your type r from? I dont mean to scare you but I think you may have gotten jipped. I'll ask my friend wha this engine bay says cause I no longer have a k20a2 in my dc5r. Dont mean to scare you but I think you should be aware of the fact that someone may have taken your k20a2 out put the 30kw weaker k20a3, and registered it to the car.

im pretty sure thats the jdm k20a, they dont have another number after the A its just k20a printed on it, while our aus models wud have k20a2 then the other smaller numbers below it, so if its just k20a_ <-- black space then underneath the other 7 numbers im sure its a jap model. I cant compare my b18c to a k20a but im sure the way the engine number is printed is the same and mines a jap model si vtec so its b18c_ <-- blank space coz jap dnt have another number after their engines then underneath it the other 7 numbers so yeh hope that helps =)

bought off a guy in south brisbane, when I looked at the car and all he only said he changed the rocket cover to the red one :S not too sure

howabout you show me a pic and ill give you a 100% answer? here http://asia.vtec.net/topics/enginecode.html that link would probably reassure you up to 99% or so =P but yeh as long as its not k20a3, with the 3 in the big print as the k20a then its not an a3, if the 3 starts below the k20a in small print the engine is simply a jap spec k20a =)

ps: 100% sure if its just k20a in big print and the numbers starting from 3 below are small =)

Sorry, I should have added onto the end since you didnt understand. I'll rephrase;

I think to answer his question is, he should test out the power of his NEW dc5r, if its on the same par or faster than his OLD dc5r, he has the proper Type R engine, and not the base engine.

Just check the block.... simple answer. If you see K20A on the block well there is your answer.........
I dont know why people ask what engine they have when they can simple check.
Look for this, then tell us if it says K20A or K20A2 or K20A3

for b-series its lyk this, my one is lyk this on the engine block.

JDM is
B18C
20***

on the rego my AUDM type r engine is- B18C71000***
where as a JDM engine would be - B18C2000*** just coz it says B18C2*** doesnt make it a Vti-R engine
