isnt it the charcoal canister that absorbs the fuel vapors from the fuel tank?

on my car it has a small line from the intake manifold, one line to the throttle body and one line coming from the fuel tank

i plugged the lines from the intake manifold and throttle body and let the fuel tank line open to breathe - i than proceeded to throw the canister and valve in the bin ....

no this a black solenoid sits top left firewall side corner of the intake manifold and it is has a plug connector(sensor) on it. so my harness has a connector for it but my manifold does not have anything there. these vei's have some different stuff on them i am finding.

juss leave the sensor off when you install the new engine - if it doesnt give a CEL - rip it out

just need gaskets and it will be ready to put back together. what gaskets do you use? y1 in US is same as z6, right? have you used parts from the states before?

i use heaps of parts from the states

if you want to bump the compression a little you can get thinner gaskets from cometic - say 75.5mm with ARP head bolts should net some nice compression lol

or just use OEM

so y1 is the same as z6?

apparently they are very similar - but i cant find any information to confirm it =/

also which gearbox are u using for this swap?

i am asking because i would have to order a z6 headgasket if i get them from the states?
i am using the gearbox that was on the engine when i pulled it out of the ek. everything seems to be ok.
is there somewhere in particular you get your stuff from the states?
is there any problem stuff from the states or it is all the same?

i get my stuff on either Ebay or d-series.org - if u havnt signed up there yet than do so - they are very helpful for this stuff

whats the stamp on the ek gearbox?

dont know what the stamp says, i will check tomorrow. why is there a problem with some gearboxes?
do you remember te name of the gaskets you got off ebay. there are so many, and some are so cheap i was wondering WHY they are so ceap? are they chheap made? do they still work ok?

im pretty sure, y1, z6, y4 an y8 use the same gasket if im not mistaken, as they all use the same block, an very similar cylinder head design

yeah they are all VERY similar - cometic are good value performance - otherwise just call honda and get OEM units

hint - most of the time performance parts are cheaper than OEM lol

also look up what kind of compression a Z6/Y1 likes so that we know what thickness gasket to get

as for the gearbox's - im just curious as to which ratios u are using - theres a sticker that says S20 or S40 and a stamp that says B000 or A000

i will check it out when i get home and let you know.
when buying a headgasket i am looking for a y1/z6 gasket. the y8 is different is it?
i think i will stick to oem gaskets they seem to be the most popular , and quality should be excellent

oocus

whats the stamp on the S20 box? any idea what cars the gearbox's come from?

the S20 B000 box and the D16y8 box are the best for ratios

the 1 s40 is out of ek that y4 engine came from, other s40 not sure cant remember, and the s20 is the original VEI box but is noisey, which i replaced with s40 and brand new clutch. i am not using this one, im using the one already on the block. i will check the s20 tomorrow night.
