Hey fellas,
i've searched through few of the past threads on relocating number plates and i saw something about using zip ties to tie on the numberplate to the 2 mounts when you take off the ugly black holder?
just wondering, would the number plate sway around if its tied onto the 2 mounts with zip ties?

also i'm looking at the number plate relocators on ebay and was wondering if they have to be screwed into the bumper? has anyone tried one of these before?
im trying to move my number plate down to the centre area under the nose of the dc5.
any pointer would be great help :D
thanks

you might have a hole in the bumper

Yeah there is a small hole where the nose is,
So tightening zip ties tight enough does stop rattling?

Yeah the stupid stock bracket has a screw right in the middle that pierces into your bumper leaving a hole (whoever came up with such a stupid idea!?). The plate relocaters will require you to drill holes into your bumper, wherever you decide to mount.

I did what reckless did, used 2 cable ties and pulled them tight and it wont rattle, and cut off the excess ^.^

so i moved my plate down into the mount infront of the radiator and stuck it on with zip ties and now its like angled :S
is there any way to make it look straight without having to drill holes?

Yes it is angled when you just use only cable ties. My solution is that i used two small and flat pieces of metal (with holes in them) bent into an 'V' shape and cable tied these metal pieces to the plastic bracket holes on the bumper, and the use the those clips that have thread from your stock bracket to screw the number plate to. This does not require any drilling, just a little creativity =]

It's hard to explain, ill post up pics later tonight so you'll be able to see it better

A flat piece of metal like this will do nicely. Can buy from hardware stores like Bunning for like $1

So this is how it looks on the front bumper, dead straight no angle

This is how it looks side-on, close up.

Wow that looks great!
One question, how did you bend the metal? I saw that piece at bunnings before and it looked rather thin?
And what's the Clip that has thread? :S

You can bend the metal with your hands, yeah it is rather thin, only 1mm thick but its still rigid/strong enough and not warp when your drive.

The clip with thread is from your big ugly stock bracket, which i took off and reused. The screw/bolt that holds the number plate to the stock bracket is screwed into that clip's thread. If you dont have it, you can always cable tie it tight as an alternative hehe.

Not the greatest photos. But its two bits of angle, pop riveted together. Used the stock number plates mount points.
