View Full Version : Best Engine oil for JDM B16A??(Civic EF9)

Hi there,

I just got my ride few weeks ago and think of doing a service for it,
just wondering which oil should I use? Motul? Mobile? Etc??No ideas of
choosing engine oil. I am driving honda Civic EF9 B16A.

FEO oils are recommended. Though I'd use ELF 5W-40 :)

anything thats a grade 4 oil, fully synthetic oils...motul would be my pick, than mobile... but on a engine thats that old, castrol 5w-30 would be enough, theres not much point in spending hundreds on an oil on an engine thats over 20yrs old that hasnt had a rebuild. As far as im aware, it also depends on how many kms an the condition the engine is in that will also effect on the oil used

Thanks for your reply guys,

the engine has done 18x,xxxkms n the last owner said that it has been rebuilded,

moreover the head have been poded, so I think i will choose the 5W-30 one, it sould be enough*

Could potentially be a long thread. For me I use Nulon 10-40. Also good is Royal Purple.
