Hi guys,

I got my car back from having the coilovers fitted and the guys said that it was sitting really low (how low you ask, 75mm off the ground at the lowest point) at the back and it was wound up as high as possible.

I get home and had a look at how the rears are set up and comparing it to some pictures I have seen around here and elsewhere I'm not sure if they have put them in correctly.

Is the metal perch meant to be seated in the base of the spring holder or is it meant to be at the top like it currently is (i've seen it both ways on the GD3 which is worrisome..as someone is kicking around with it setup wrong out there)?

Also, is the shock body meant to be height adjusted in conjunction with the spring perchs (is that what they are called, the gold coloured threaded part)? I ask because I noticed it looked as though it was threaded near the top (where the silver shaft comes out of the shock body) and the thread was wound all the way up?

Would these two things combined be the reason it is sitting so low even when they have wound it out as much as possible on the perchs?

Or is this coilover setup just meant to be absurdly low? I have seen it on peoples cars wound down and they still have a LOT more clearance than I do (fitting 1 or 2 fingers in) at the rear so I don't think it is meant to be this low.

This is the setup when the wheel is off and it is under no load.

This is under load with the wheel on the ground.

Thanks,

Michael

Yeah I think it is as well..although as I said I've seen pics on the net of it installed both ways. So either it can go both ways or someone out there has it upside down like me :|

Still I won't get a whole lot of height out of getting them to put it in the right way around (if it is indeed upside down). I want to know if the shock body is meant to be adjusted to a different height as well?

Lol omfg? Seriously

without instructions - its not a dumb mistake. The coilover spring + adjustable perch actually fits either way in the rear. Can anyone find the official install instructions for a jazz coilover system ?

unfortunately , this setup isnt quite the same as a "coilover system" - fronts are adjustable but the rears are just a static spring ( refer to last few images on that link)

So turns out the spring perch and spring are upside down. Thats not hard to fix, however ther are 3 metal spring tabs on the spring seat that are used to hold the stock spring in the correct position.

If the spring perch is moved to the bottom it will have to sit over the tops of these and it wont be level as there are only 3 in a circle. One at 0 degrees 1 at 90 and one at 180. This means the whole spring assembly will lean to the side where there is no metal tab (well thats what I think anyway).
