Just wondering if anyone has been through inspection in australia and been told the legal height limits for the VTi-R teggy, mines a 95 model.

currently on SUPERLOW Kingsprings.
i just brought LOW kingsrpings to raise it up a little to advoid the defect.

however i just need to know the height requirements of the HUB to Guard (eyebrow height) its usally done in (mm)

im not woried about the height of the car from ground 2 front bar, that is taken care of already.

Thanks

General rule of the thumb is that a coke can must ba able to go under the car... :)

11? did they raise it from the 10cm it used to be?

As far as i know, they dont care about the distance from the hub to the guard, they just have a long stick with a 10cm (or 11cm?) diameter wheel on the end. They just roll that under various points of the car and if it touches the body then you are too low.

Pity if you drive a Mercedes A Class. they have about 8.5cm clearance from the factory!

I was always under the impression the minimum clearance required is 10cm at the lowest point

yeah 10cm, and that means ALL of your car so that means no dangly exhausts etc

i thought it was 10cm excluding bodykits and lips ???

i think someone should just find the rule and post it instead of everyone guessing..

I dont know where you got the excluding bit from... from my knowledge on most cars its considered illegal to change the bumpers as they dont meet Australian standards, correct if wrong. Drop'in your car 1.5" won't attract your local police too much and remember the car will get lower when you and passengers get in.

no i definatly know the rule is 100mm (10cm) from the ground

in SA anyways we have 2 laws

* 100mm at all times clearance

* and eyebrow height, which is HUB TO GUARD which is Differnt for every car.

i need to know that height, because in SA they check both heights.

im clearly aware of the 100mm(10cm) rule

just thought someone might of been defected for it in SA before.

Sorry, didnt know about the hub to guard rule... That sux! When you lower the car the main reason is to reduce that gap!

depends what car your dropping.. 1.5 for one car might be too much for another
but if your talkin about the teg then yeh 1.5 should be alright

you are asking about "trim heights"

maybe call the NSW RTA tech info line: 1300137302

there is also requirements for having indicators a certain height back and front which pretty much stuff up every dc2/4 (front blinker low in bumper), well a mate who rang the rta was told... they gave an example with an s2000 that it cant be lowered at all etc etc...
but not sure how tight they are on that rule
