do you need to run an oil cooler on a basic turbo set up on a b16a running about 5-7psi??Generally no, you don't have to use an oil cooler on a basic set up. Yes, I think is a good thing to have, but its not essential. But it would depend on your set up and driving. Are you going to be on boost a lot of the time? (consantant boost, more heat) are you using a small turbo? (small turbo works harder at high rpm, more heat) Heat is the killer. If yes, then a oil cooler would be more essential. Hope this helps.

It is definalty a good idea to use an oil cooler on any car, especially if you are revving it hard. Plus if your turbo is oil cooled it is a good idea as it will not only help extend the life of your car but also the turbo.

- there is a very small air oil cooler on the back of the block ( underneath the waterpump guide) i believe.

my mate just got a really nice B&M oil cooler from Bursons for $350 for his 260z.

is it possible to use motorbike oil coolers?
i thought that it would be a cheaper alternative if could head down to a bike wreckers.

you dont really want 'cool oil', you want it to run at a good warm to hot temp so it protects and lubes properly.

if you do track work and hard revving all the time yes get an oil cooler, but other than that no real need, im looking at getting one for my car only because my exhaust runs directly under my sump (like 10mm's from it) and obviously is heating things up.

and i run big boost if your only running 7-9psi dont waste your money and time.

the exhaust isnt gonna heat the oil up much, considering it'll be much much cooler than the hot side of the turbo.

I am using trust oil cooler kit. Very easy to install. 100% bolt on. The oil pressure is very stable. No complaint!!

there is an oil cooler that has a thermostat on it (i think it resides on a sandwich plate?) that comes off a production-made car. i cant remember what car it is though.
food for thought.
