Hey All,

So I was under my DC2R on the weekend changing brake rotors, and while I had it up in the air, noticed that when i turned a wheel, that the opposite wheel turned in the reverse direction, now car was in 1st gear, but, with an LSD, shouldnt both wheels turn the same way?

Have I been ripped off? as if there's no LSD in there, that's kinda big to fix, not mentioning money, the car runs well, and handles much better than my DA9, grip is good so I always thought it was due to better design and LSD, now I am paranoid :)

Can someone let me know if I am testing the wrong way?

Cheers
Chris

If it were a clutched LSD you would be right. ITR is fitted with a Torsen. All gears; no slip. "LSD" is an accepted label but technically it isn't one.

Oh, so it is doing the right thing then? Thanks for the info, very relieved now :)

Found this on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torsen

your lsd is fine, it's supposed to spin in opposite direction

all LSD's spin in an opposite direction unless they are under load in gear...

correct to say that this type of LSD (torsen) acts like a open diff , unless in gear under load ( acceleration - IE a 1 way LSD)

If under the car spinning tyres , or backing off etc...it will act like a normal diff :)

In regards to the lsd question, i hv a friend with a dc5 Type S. and on his behalf wants to ask he's wheels also spins the opposite direction in first gear.
he was actually thinking of putting a dc5 Type R gearbox, would it be compatible and what are the serial numbers should be looking for between the gearbox or DC5S and DC5R
