I'm just about to pick up a 2009 Accord Euro Luxury and I'm embarrassed to say I did not even audition the 10-speaker stereo system in it. Who makes it? What is the sound quality like? What are the best areas to improve it? I'm usually listening to classical, often fairly loud, and I like my music realistic. The replacement value of my sound system at home would be the cost a new small car, so I'm prepared to spend for good sound.

best advice i can give you: dont waste your time with jb hifi, autobarn, repco, supercheap, etc.. go straight to fhrx studios and have a chat with marty & the crew about your budget, what you want & anything else audio-related. 110% guarantee he'll take care of ya. if he doesnt then ill give you my savings.

So I guess you really love your music so much, but you have to remember in the car and with the High End Home Audio set up is totally difference, in car you will expect to hear road noise no matter how much deadening you put, and maybe after a while the car will make a lil bit rattle here and there, also in the car you will never can get good sound only with 2 splits speaker but not in the home audio, actually the less the speaker the better the sound, less standing wave, so for me honestly I wont spend so much money but of course still get a good quality speakers and amp, I can say this coz Im into High End Home Audio too (Martin Logan ESL speaker set up) and I never can get the same sound as my home one with my $20K+ set up in my car before, so good luck, and enjoy your music

Let's be realistic here. If I'm driving from Sydney to Newcastle, I have a lot of time to kill. I'll never have hi-fi, but I can have good music. To spend $10,000 on a car stereo, to me, would be a case of more dollars than sense. But judicious spending of say $2000 can give me a very musically satisfying car. So that is what I am aiming for.
I've already started buying toward the upgrade and I think I'll end up with a car which will entice me to listen to music.
At this stage it looks like:
superseded Hertz 165 HSK splits in front doors and back doors: $220
Kenwood KFC-XW800F 8" free-air sub replacing existing sub in rear parcel shelf: $140
2nd hand amplifiers: say $200
JL Audio Cleensweep digital signal processor to correct the abominable equalisation of the head unit: $270 from USA
Dynamat sound deadening in at least the front doors: say $200
Cheap sound deadening for the back doors, bonnet lid, boot lid, boot: say $300
Installation: say $400
Cheers, Warren
