So i've got a 2005 accord euro, and i wanted to upgrade the sound system.

I've already purchased a single din fascia kit.
Im not sure what components i need for a good sound quality setup, i dont need that much thumpthump.

I was thinkin head unit, splits, amp, sub
Or do i need back speakers too??

My budget is proab around 1.5k but im flexible

with decent component speakers you don't really need rear speakers, but i would still look at getting some three ways personally - i find in my car that it sounds a bit too "empty".

Alpine type r splits

i have an alpine head unit in mine, jl 12w3 sub and some crappy amp (4 channel) for front splits / rear speakers and another crappy amp (4 channel, 2 channels bridged for 1 channel) for the sub.

I love alpine audio so I'd just go with all that. 1.5k should cover most of the decent gear

IMO don't worry about the HU the factory one's not bad.Get LOCs,good 4 channel amp(50+WRMS/channel),decent splits for the front(Dynamat front doors),3 ways for the rear(for fill in),monoblock amp (approx.300WRMS) for the sub,10 or 12" sub with separate fade control. This is ewhat i have and it sounds great.

Also, does anyone know if only certain splits fit without requiring any cutting? Id rather that, ive heard the focal 165VRS are thin and fit without mod

I had a set of clarion splits at one stage. Fit with no cutting.

Hey ... whats wrong with Rockford fosgate =P

But i got these ones just the older style
2 6.5' Components (http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/product_details.asp?cat_id=3&series_id=33&family_id=14&item_id=112885&locale=en_US&p_status=)

I have a old school RF amp, though I wouldnt consider them SQ product... with a small budget you cant expect much

Yep, id go this.
For my first setup i did this and it was definitely a great noticeable difference. I reckon this will do you very well........
.....but then you get hooked and upgrade to a massive mono and more powerful speakers and subs and run crap at 1ohm, whilst your wallet becomes lighter......./cries....wwhhyyyy.....LOOOOL

hrmm okay, well at the moment ive come up with the following :

HU Alpine CDA-117E 445
splits Focal 165VR 479
sub Boston G312-44 320 285
amp JL Audio 300/4v2 450
install 600

I;ve also upgraded my budget to around 2.75 lol

The main thing im tossing up between is the amp. Will a 4 channel amp be enough to run this setup? any other options where i could get an amp/ two amps for <900?

Yeh there are a few mono amps out there that are decent for a good price. With that budget it's easy lol. That install price sound a bit expensive too who is it through?

Im thinking through Alberts Cannington, thats around how much they quoted i think incl a sub box.
Not sure of anywhere else good in Perth

Okay so i think i've settled on my setup:

HU: Alpine CDA-117E $445
Splits: Rainbow Sound Line SLC 265.25 NG: $379
Subwoofer: Image Dynamics IDQ12: $495
Amp: ARC Audio KS300.4 $625

Anyone know how the rainbows compare to the Focal 165VRS's??
And do the prices seem good?

I've never heard of rainbow before? As for install you could DIY it. Save alot of money.

Alright, purchase from FHRX studios. Marty was awesome help with good prices!

HU: Alpine CDA-177E
Splits: Rainbow Sound Line SLC 265.25 NG:
Subwoofer: Image Dynamics IDQ12:
Amp: ARC Audio KS300.4

The install is 495 from Alberts. Do i need to get any particular type of cables fuses sub box for my set up? Or should i just go with what they provide?

Also this doesnt include dynamat. They said its 350 for the front doors, 650 for the bulk pack which includes the boot. These prices include install.
Is it heaps cheaper to do by myself? Is it easy?

white_ep3_civic

It will be cheaper if you do it yourself. Depends if you have the time? All you need to buy is cable for power earth and speakers. I really wouldn't worry about dynamat I don't see the need unless you are running massive competition setup.

Alright got my head unit today. When installing it in the Euro, where do i run the RCA out of the HU to the amplifier behind hte rear seat? Like i dont know where the cable is supposed to come out of hte dash.... then i know how to run it under the side of hte car

white_ep3_civic
15-03-2011, 08:57 PM
You got to run the rca's out from behind the dash then under the trim so you can't see the cables. Normally you would run remote wire, rca's and speaker wire down 1 side and power down the other side.

white_ep3_civic

make sure to send the rca's from the passenger side and the positive/remote12v from the drivers side. i ran my setup the opposite and the amount of interference i was getting was a joke. as for deadining the doors i believe its just a waiste of money unless ur running a comp setup. mine don't rattle at all. concentrate more on the boot lid /number plate and rear brake light. if u need a hand pm me i'll come out n help u with installation, seeing as i pulled mine apart 4 times to get it right i've memorised all the screws. you can also run the rca's from under your glove box if u stick ur head under there, you'll see theres little gaps put it through there and cable tie it. still unseen and doesn't give your carpet an unpleasant lump. IF you still get a lot of interference just go buy a gadget from JB u plug it into ur amp it cuts interference ( WISH some1 told me this earlier). hope any of this info was help full. also make sure u mount your amps down well don't want ur sub crushing them. as for running the positive don't know if you've done it yet but your most probably going to have to drill into your chassy. well i did anyway. like i said pm me ll bring my car down show you your options if u haven't done it yet. if you need any further help feel free to ask. are u planing on upgrading rear 6*9?
