hey guys, my car has a wideband o2 sensor in it and i think that it may running lean.
under very light throttle i notice it jumps right up 15-20 and even the reader sometimes says 'lean'.
i was under the impression that it should be around 14?
under heavy throttle it goes upto 15 sometimes, is that ok?
its a hondata s300j ecu if that helps
any input will be appreciated!

13.8-14.5 on cruising
12.8-13.0 on full throttle
14.7 on idle

so 20 is very bad and may damage the engine even on very light throttle?

Get your ecu tuned

16-17 is pretty bad; essentially you're nearing detonation and somethings' bound to let go sooner or later

Are you basing this on your own experience or internet broscience?

Dont see how it'll lean out that much unless you have a bad fuel pump/injectors.

Get it tuned... benson hit the nail on the head..
you can cheat a bit of economy out of the tune and have it light load cruise around 15:1 ish, but high load should be 13ish for an NA engine.

Was at a dyno day when the tuner pulled the strings on pushing a car as the AFR was going beyond 16.. sure does suggest something to me..

Not really a silly bump if the OP had put up what wideband he was getting these readings from there are many bad widebands on the market that jump all over the place and give crap readings. The ECU wont give you readings without a wideband controller of some sort.
