FD1 to FD2R plans help

hello guys, new to the forum and i just wanna ask what you guys recommend me to do. I'm planning to buy out a honda civic fd1 1.8L and putting the fd2r bodykit to get the type r look as i don't really want to go through the personal import process. i understand that the type-r's are championship white in colour while the original civic is tafetta white. Would you suggest spraying the kit tafetta white or respraying the whole car championship white cos im abit concerned it will look ugly in tafetta white? and how much would it cost to do this ? recommended painters around sydney ?

oh thanks for that :) couldn't find it earlier ...im just deciding which colour i would be better off with tafetta white or championship white cos it seems a full respray would be around 3k and its jst a different shader of white :L

how close to an fd2r are u talking? just the body kit or everything else? gonna upgrade the brakes to brembos and get fd2r wheels as well? if ur not gonna want to do the other stuff, or if its too expensive, u may as well just spray the kit in tafetta white.

nah not too intense just the bodykit, red honda badges, type r badges, most likely brembo brake covers lol ? and hopefully work emotions ( does anybody know how many inches would fit the civic perfectly ?) i just want this to be my daily but just a really nice looking daily :) im just wondering whether a taffeta white colour would look ugly and off

brembo brake covers? they would look silly.

Just lower the car get some nice offset rims, lip kits and your set.

"aero" who just posted before, has one of cleanest looking fd civic i ever seen. His choice of rims and camber make the whole car look flush. And you know what, it didn't cost him an arm and a leg :)

Just leave it tafetta white, its not worth going through a whole paint job which isnt going to make THAT much of a difference. Theres many otherer options you have with 3k then to repaint the car. Depends what you mean by perfect fit. Im running cr kais in 17x9+38 and it scrubs slightly.

IMO 18 is the perfect fit for looks and smaller and it wouldn't look nice. And yes carmate has dodgy kits made themselves using fiberglass. Had to cancel my order which I paid a $400 deposit for because seen the work they did on my mates Mugen kit.

Taffeta white looks just fine no point respray to championship white. Taffeta is just a more cleaner and bright white where as championship white has this Wierd creamy Colour. So after a couple of years your taffeta white will look championship white anyway!!

both 17s and 18s look good. also, which emotions are u aiming for? cr-kai? xt7? xd9?? just make sure that they're wide enough and low enough offset to concave or have some dish :thumbsup: :D

get 17x9 or 18x9 or wider as they start to have the obvious concave/dish. however, will be hard to fit if the offsets really low......

hahah fair enough. If you want to save money, i suggest you just buy 2nd hand rims if you can find it. Doesnt make that much difference but a large difference in money.

the 06-08 ones ? it should.

I'm pretty sure that the Type R kit doesnt matter as it replaces the front and rear bumpers. The mugen one does not as fit as its a lip fit and the face lifted models have a slightly different shape.

not really a big fan of the hexagonal taillights, and the earlier the year the more $$$ and all they changed was the taillights and a darker tint for the headlights ?

they also had front, side, curtain airbags and EBD as standard, while the 08 only had front.

Hey guys, sorry to revive an "oldish thread." I have the facelifted fd (09-11) I was just wondering how much wider are the fd2r's fenders? Would I be able to put a type R lip/J's racing lip on to my civic? Or would I have to purchase the fd2r front bar and then only be able to put the front lip on ?

Does anyone know where to get JUST the front bar for the fd2r ?

I emailed OTR, they only have the mugen RR front bar. Does anyone noe anywhere else to get a type R lip or a J's racing lip? :(
